RC4WD Ultra Scale Hardened Steel Driveshaft (Various Sizes)

Got mine in the mail today. My first impression is that they appear to be pretty stout. I have not had a chance to run them, but will post up once I do. Now I must say that they look absolutely amazing. RC4WD hit the nail on the head with these d-lines as far as scale is concerned. I think they will hold up just fine. I'll be running them with a HH TMP 35t and a 2s LiPo. "thumbsup"

Make sure and check the torx screw. I had one fall onto my bench and had not even run it yet.

Just a warning to anyone that buys a longer set and plans on cutting them down, they are not splined the whole way only half way. Found out the hard way today:x Otherwise they are pretty sweet"thumbsup"

Get the longer one and cut it to length. Same price.

That's what I figured and that's why I asked, thanks for the info. ;-)

So does the Torx head act as the u-joint cap? Wondering if they can be worked loose due to rotation if they are.

Also any updates as far as durability? Kinda spendy for me to find out the hard way. Thanks.

Here's an exploded shot of the assembly. Hope this helps. BTW - I had the same problem with the torx screws backing out after delivery. Keep in mind I did not double check their tightness from RC4WD. Additionally this issue was while I am still in the building process. I have not run these yet. I did however lose the pin the torx screws are supposed to hold in place. Fortunately it's a 3mm pin and found the un-threaded shank of a 3mmX25 socket head cap screw makes a great replacement."thumbsup"

Question: I'm running the Scale Yota Axles under my Honcho. Will this d'shaft work on a Honcho for the front and rear? I'd love to get a set before the G6 this weekend if they will work

As for the Torx backing out, I'd destroy it, throw in a standard hex, and blue Locktite it

EDIT: Oh wow, $100 for a set. Too rich for me, but still super cool looking

x2, did this get answered??

Anyone have thoughts on it?

$29 versus $49. The Ultimates look fantastic, but is that workth $40 extra for a set?

I DONT RECOMMEND IT. I've gone through 2 of the mega truck drive shafts and the pins do not hold up. I'm running rc4wd 2 speed, cc mamba max pro esc, Tekin Redlin 17.5T burshless, GCM transfer case 1:1 gear set. I'm using 65mm- 85mm mega truck shaft from motor to transfer case and I hope this won't break. I'm on my second set warranted by RC4WD and if they do I'll just reinstall my Junfac shaft to replace with. I'm also running 3S Lipo 5000mah 30c. I broke mega shafts in 1st gear. I Just purchased the Ultra Scale Hardened Steel Driveshaft. I will be testing them out and hope they hold up, I'm actually running a Junfac carbon steel drive shaft in front I have not broke one.

Hope this helps.

I've received the drive shaft from RC4WD and The first picture was just the rear upgraded and I was satisfied with the toughness of the drive shaft that I order a second set for the front. Second picture is with both drive shaft after testing. I must say that this drive shaft can take a beating. Also went back to the same spot to do a rain test run at night and test was successful. Also the Mayhem Slamerz did their job very well along with the Vanquish led light bar nice and bright.

After using the drive shafts I notice that the yokes are wearing out and also the M3 pins fell off after 2 days of use, and the other pin followed few days later. I ended up replacing the M3 pins with M3 SS screw and lock nuts. I hope RC4WD addresses the weak yoke and change the pin to a ss screw nut / yoke combo. I also found some parts for the ultra scale drive from RC4WD but they did not mention what the part is for. Link is below. Other than that this drive shafts are beefy.

Just email RC4WD and let them know what came off and they will possibly warranty the part. I've had part that failed and they warrantied the parts, make sure to take a picture.

Good luck.

That did not brick it gets held by the pin that goes through the pinion hole and out the other. Hope this helps. :-)

I forwarded this link to RC4WD hopefully they chime in to help your issue.

This product has so much scale in it, a lots of those smaller parts fall apart easily. If yours broke, just send us an email, along with pictures and order#. We will get it exchanged.

We also been working on a better material. Sorry for those who had bad experience with this product.

I love my mips but the look of these is definitely the way I want to go! I just hope they will hold up to 3s and my stumper!?
