RC4WD XR4 4-Channel 2.4Ghz Transmitter & Receiver

I know sometimes my points may come out sounding like I am attacking someone. But I am in hopes that the P.M. I sent Losikid will pass along better as to the point I am trying to make. I ask that maybe you and Losikid get together and discuss this.

I know you are doing what you should. Its just the first I have heard of you (No offence), and I do believe the radio should have more attention. But the attention isnt being placed where it belongs.

Daily you see questions asked on RCC with the basic what Servo, what ESC, what Motor. But there is never any reasons why just "buy HiTec, Buy Tekin, Buy HolmesHobbies" You get what I am saying.?

Like I said I have no doubt that Losikid and his hack prooves he is a smart kid. The radio should be able to see its self by now as being up there against the big name radio's. There is a reason its not.! for the money I cant see why it isnt. But then again I have not been entertained with what it can do, cant do, and why I should be confident enough to buy it even if it is $45.00

For example: Integy stuff is cheap too. Doesnt men its better than the good stuff.

Why do you believe I have not entertained any other radio since wanting out of using my Spektrum DX3R? I Love my Spektrum, but The Futaba that I would get is way expensive, Spektrum most likely will never make a DX4R, and Nothing else has prooven attractive to me otherwise.

To be honest, I have seen some people with the RC4WD Radio. But again, Not really any reviews on how well it can be or do in the market.

Maybe these cheaper radios deserve a better glance.

i know that i'm mostly an unknown outside of the losi section, mainly because i really like the losi. losikid and i do discuss many things privately, this being one of them. like he said, i will have a full review up once i get some sort of video device and get another rx to test on my vendetta as well. sorry i got a bit heated there, but this radio is the best bang for the buck i've ever seen. i see some people recommending holmes hobbies for no other reason that jrh makes them, which is a poor reason to recommend anything, jrh makes a great motor in the reliability and power dept, and has some of the best customer service in the game.

like i said, once i get some sort of camcorder and second rx, i'll have detailed programming vids and also a full operation review of it for my 2.2 comp, as well as fun testing with servos i have sitting around. may just make a chassis to make a class 3 rig (only thing illegal would be the tires, have tons of delrin stock sitting around for just such an occasion) and that would be a full 4ws and dig rig. i have no problems doing that, and i know people will call me biased again, but really, i wouldn't run it if it wasn't miles and miles ahead of the dx3e i dumped for it, which was twice the price. losikid never tells me what to run in my truck, there's really not many constraints i have with anything, so its definitely not because i have to.

Pardon me for getting this thread back on track...........

I have an RC4WD 4ch radio. I think for what it is its a great piece of work.
I am running half of my fleet of 20 cars, trucks, and scalers on it.

Im not running any digs or rear steer off of it though,
that require EPA and so forth,
and I am wondering if maybe the Losikid's radio might be better for me.

I could not find the information I wanted to see on his site.

What I want to know is this:

On the LosiHack 8 channel radio option, full out RTR,
no holds bared, top of the price scale, I am paying cash build...

Do you put in all the switches and knobs
I will need to just open the box and start plugging in my 8 servos ????

Or am I going to have to dick around with a bunch of programming
buttons to try and run everything through the limited switches
on the OEM face of the radio?

TIA

All i do is flash the firmware, you'll have to map each key to the function you want it to preform. Switches arn't added, you have to use whats already there. All the mapping is done through the lcd, no physical mods or anything

you would need the 8 channel rx (30 through overkill for the additional) the improved voltage reg (17.50) bearing upgrade (10) and the full hack and program and hack kit (30) and the prehacked runs 45, that's full out going for the gold on it. i do believe this still comes with the 3 channel rx as well, but don't quote me. there are no additional switches on the radio, it is pretty much unaltered except in the full kit hacked, there is a small hole to run the hack card in.

you would set each channel to a button or button group. the d/r slider and 3rd channel trim slider are button groups, as are the steering and throttle trims. individual buttons operate as an on/off switch as far as i know, so that would be the grip button, end button, and back button. count that up, and you have a steering, throttle, and 7 other inputs to work with.

and yeah, pretty much plug and play, you'd have full control over 6 channels and the others would be great for lights and that sort of thing. the momentary function would be good for winches and such, or set them up for going to the endpoint at the touch of a button. hope this helps you out. i haven't really dug into depth on how many model memory mine has, i only have two r/c's, but i can tell you that not everything is pure crawler. on my vendetta before i had to rip the rx to go back into the crawler, i had expo and dual rate setup on the sliders, and then on the trims i had the steering speed. also have not gotten a range test done, its minnesota, and even without the snow, its cold lol. that will happen probably soon, my driveway is about an 1/8th mile or so.

OK.
I need two extra full function 3 position switches just to run my 3D plow
in real time. (up, down, left, right, and under-tow for speed plowing)

Wanted a miracle wheel radio for under $1500 LOL LOL LOL

Switching stuff on a screen to change options wont work for me quick enough.

Damn. Any chance you could build in 2-4 extra switches for a sixer???

I had to go old school, and be real carefull to make servo arms
that could be mounted in the propper place as to not stress the servo at
full throw, or even neutral. (AARRGGHH/LOL/WTF/..FTW!!X100attempts)

Funny though,

People will bitch to hell and back when things are not right,
me included for that matter!

But you know how it goes, if its all good, you hear nothing.
One bad thing and somebody lights the NET on fire with it.

My point is, even tho I have not easily seen a good write up about
the LosiHack radio yet, untill now anyway..........

Bet your ass if somebody was having issues,
EVERYBODY would hear about it.

Have not seen one bad post about the LosiHack radios yet.
Go figure?

Now give Team3six a break, and toss it off to holiday stress.

Let these BLUE STARS duke it out in private. (HINT)

'Tiss the season to be jolly!'

What exactly are you needing? I can custom build radio's too, so i can defiantly get you something. Although i'm sure the gt3b can do this.

Email me at losikid@overkillrc.com so we can discuss this without thread jacking. (although its already off topic)

Jeeze Losikid, we might have to talk about this some day soon! 8)

But the electronics is well past me by now. When I was in electronics school, (Trott Tech, Class of 83)
we were still farting around with tubes LOL LOL!!!

What I have done for my more extensive needs was to fabricate a "wheel" that fits on most any 4+ channel stick radio.

Its just a platform that attaches to the square radio frame
with an arm on a typical wheel that has an oblong curved hole in it to compensate for the lever throw of the throttle arm on the stick radio.

Its a 25 dollar solution to a 500 dollar problem.

I can get pics of my prototype, if your game?

Back on topic. I run a xr4 on my comp XR, my mini pro and my scaler.

Works great for those who dont want to fork out bug bucks in a radio and flawless with a punk dig. Instructions could be better, but still a good deal.

Works killer for a winch and scale lights too."thumbsup"

The XR-4 is not much good with a mechanical DIG, RWS etc...

Channel 3 and 4 have no EPA options, just 3-way switching.

BUT, they sell on-rig/ not in radio / add-ons to compensate
and adjust for the radios lack of function.

The cost of these extra components totaly kills the
cost-over-function of the XR-4 radio.

And RC4WD knows it too

no shooting!!! just in awe of some mods that are posted...hey, if it works for you...great, I'm all for DIY

I had the shocker

not LMAO :lmao:

or even the rolling eyes

now back on track

im interested in this xr4 also, only because i need a 4th channel. my gt3b only has 3 buttons, so do i have to go drilling holes and adding switches to my gt3b if i update firmware? i think team3six has a valid arguement if he wants it easy. granted i havent looked at vids but i know i only have 3 buttons on my gt3b and i need 4 and i want 10 model memory, so the xr4-4 channel seems to be my answer.

ok i have researched now, and it seems do able to mod my gt3b, lol i didnt know my $40 transmitter is so capable, ill give it a try thanks guys, i know this is old post except me

crap, I had a long dissertation and the system timed out....so I lost everything....so Im out of time, gotta get back to work......that was a waste..............

in short, Blue...the B
