Rcc virus!!! Watch out!!!

I have no problems in any browser ever. RCC is NOT giving you guys the viruses. You are picking them up somewhere else. Many have triggers, ie: click back button, open new tab, go to your most commonly viewed webpage etc that make them do their thing.

While RCC might not be causing them, it can be part of the issue if it relates to Google Ads or linked photos. Removing google ads reduces money which increases site costs. Removing photobucket linking can cause all sorts of major havoc.

I know Badger is working on this and has been for some time.

I think it is all in photo hosting sites myself.

I have noticed Chrome disables alot of photos, blocking them, I think it is doing. :ror:

I dont know. Ive had my secuity program block attacks when I have clicked on my own threads with only pictures I have uploaded to RCC, and when just going to check my PM's where there are no pictures at all. Unless you are referring to the pictures in the adds.

Google Ad's uses Flash...Flash is very vulnerable to attacks recently. So always update Flash and Java while you are at it. Luckily Chrome includes built in Flash and auto updates it for people.

I have only gotten the virus warnings from the main page... no photolinking there, only ad's.

No matter where you think these things come from, they're going to show up...and when they do, they aren't going to explain to you where they came from. And if you want to read the forum, google a part, check a vid on youtube and chase a find on ebay, you won't be able to avoid what's out there. If you're like me and just want to enjoy the forum, they will ruin you day, or a couple of days. The first time I got hit was scrolling through the twelve days giveaway deal. The second time was a thread that I've subscribed to for months.

For anyone that it helps...I'm running malwarebytes download and have switched to running Google chrome (That some of you have recommended and it says it has malware protection). I'm fortunate and have three computers. If I had one, I'd be class A screwed. Again for anyone reading this...just be prepared. Since then, I've made sure to create a backup of my operating system and copied all my bookmarks and photo folders. If it all crashed again tomorrow, I can at least be assured I could wipe my hard drive and start fresh. If you've never been hit with something, remember...an ounce of prevention is worth (TEN!) pounds of cure. "thumbsup"

Dicky, as my post above mentioned...you can't tell where you get these things from. If you aren't allowed to use your back button, or open a new tab or go to your most commonly viewed webpage, what is the purpose of having a computer and a browser? As for RCC giving out viruses...I KNOW RCC isn't giving out viruses, but strangely, the three times I got hit with things were from RC4WD looking for parts, and the two instances listed above. The fact is...it's floating around, and for younger, cash strapped, or non tech savvy folk like me, it could be devestating in terms of time and money correcting the situation. Consider yourself lucky. If you were on the forum tomorrow and all of a sudden your computer locked up, you'd be as pissed as me. As a member wrote, it's sad that it's safer to surf porn than it is to surf a hobby site...Very true. Be prepared...it's all I can say. I have a much stronger sense of security now...that I didn't have or think I'd need last week. "thumbsup"
