I finally decided to pull the trigger on doing a Burly truck after Harley did his and just seeing everyone elses done. I said I had to have one.

So I have found a used SCX-10 with a rubicon body on it (will prolly change that)
Ordered my 2.2 tires and some HR wheels (for now)
Ordered the RCBros lift kit.

Now im trying to figure out what power system to use.
I was going to use the Traxxas VXL setup, but have found a Duratrax Element 3900kv system on Tower for a good price this month.
What do you guys think about using the duratrax system.
I know the Traxxas is a 3500kv system.
So the 3900kv one shouldn't be that bad right?
I would like some input please.
I know I will have to upgrade the transmission gears and the axles eventually. But for now im gonna keep it stock till it breaks.

I will have some pics once the stuff starts to roll in.

Well after some more reading the Duratrax motor is only 2S capable.
So I guess I will be going with the traxxas motor system.

I already ordered the Traxxas one.
I will try it out, If I dont like it I will order the one you posted. Hell I like it better anyway.
Castle is good stuff

Finally got the donor truck in and the RCBros kit. Just waiting on the wheels and tires to show up. They should be here today.

I think i have decided on a theme i want to try and do. Its the original Grave Digger. Before he went full monster truck he had tractor tires and a normal ford body. Im having some problems finding the body. Might just have to get it as close as possible. Also finding the correct color. It looks like a red primer. What do you guys think?

Finally put the wheels and tires together and installed the lift kit. All went smooth.

Put the rubicon body on it just to see how it looks. Its not that bad. Still would rather have something else though.

Definitely red primer. Just a suggestion, but if you cut the front clip (fenders and hood) from a Parma Digger body, and mated it to the cab and bed of a Pro-Line '50s Chevy body, you might come close to what you're looking for.

I did the opposite for my Frankenstein panel truck. I took the front clip from the '50's chevy truck, and mated it to the Digger body.

Parma makes a 50's ford truck or a 53 or something like that. That might be the way I go. Seems it will be close enough anyway.
Next thing will be finding some wheels that look like those. Doubt that will be possible though.

Ya, the only rims that remotely resemble those are 1.9's. RC4WD has the Landie, and G-made has the SR-03. You could try the Vendor's section under Wheels and Tires. Duuuuuuude has some 2.2 delrin beadlocks, maybe he has something close to what you want.

Just read that Duuuuuude isnt making custom wheels anymore.
Thats a bummer
Im sure he could have made these. They seem rather basic

Sorry to hear, might have to investigate some of the other vendors,... unless you want to try modifying maybe a buggy rim, or doing something custom. I've seen guys cut and shut tires to make what they want, maybe you could come up with something custom for a rim, just a suggestion.

Built my little area to work on these things so i would get out of the dining room. I ordered some hangers from cowrc. I love them.

Thanks.

Well the Mud truck moves on its own power now. I wound up going with the Castle system in it and its very nice.
I will be ordering some shorter links today to shorten the wheel base.
The ford body is ALOT shorter than where it is now.
It still wont be exact but it will be better.

I will get some more pics later. This is actually the first body i have completed cutting up. All the others i gave up doing. Lol. Will have some paint on it soon i hope if i cant find the right color.

Put the Jeep body on it to just run up and down the dirt road. This thing moves. Cant wait to put the shorter links and the body on it. Should be a blast to drive.
