Reverse issues

I recently bought my first trail rig/crawler and it’s a SCX10 II with a 55T Axial motor with what looks like a cheap ESC. But overall the truck runs awesome except for every now and then I have an issue with the truck not going into reverse. I can drive it forward just fine and it brakes just fine but then it just won’t reverse. So I usually pick the truck up and move it and keep driving. But sometimes it will reverse if I let it sit for about a minute. And other times if I don’t touch it it will start reversing without me even touching the controller.

I have checked the throttle trim and that doesn’t seem to be the issue. I’ve checked everything I can think of and everything looks normal to me. Do any of you have any suggestions or tips?

If your esc has a trail/crawl mode it will go back and forth.
If it’s a “race “ type you might not have reverse enabled. If it’s a bashing type you might want to double tap the throttle for reverse.
