RIP Ryan Dunn

na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, gooooood bye!

Guy was a moron and like said thank God he didn't kill anyone else. Acting like a dumbass on TV doesn't make you special, it makes you a dumbass. Nothing he did is any different than the thousands of morons who do the same stupid crap every day yet don't have their own TV show. He exhibited no talent what so ever to do what he did and his little friend bam bam is just as stupid. Cry all you want but when you act like they did it's bound to catch up with you. I am sure had they been drunk driving like that in your neighborhood near your family the tune would be slightly different. If you play in the lion's den you can't get all teary eyed because you got bit.

Even beginning to compare this guy to any soldier is sickening. A moron does not a hero make.

X2 Amazing how low IQ levels have sunk when we consider this crap entertainment.

Don't compare a guy killing himself and a friend while driving drunk with soldiers dying for their country.

As a person who has had family fight and die in almost every major conflict this country has been involved in I find it very offensive that you tried to flip what I said. In no way, shape, or form am I comparing Ryan Dunn's accident to a soldier giving their life for the freedoms we share. I am comparing the lack of decency and respect you select few are showing for another human being regardless of the circumstances. People should feel free bash on him as much as they would like. I just dont see the point in doing it in a thread that was created with the intent of letting poeple mourne the loss. To me, it is just as disrespectful to do what you guys are doing as it would be to protest at a soldiers funeral. The fact that I am having to explain this, is very sad. Having said that, I am done with this thread.

Bullshit that alcoholism is a disease.

A disease you cannot control, you can control picking up another drink and ingesting it. I was addicted to pills at one time, and without a prescription. This was an addiction, not a disease. It stopped when I decided to stop. BTW, I never drove drunk or loaded.

It's not like cancer. You can't just wake up one day and say "hey, I am done with this cancer" and it is gone then.

An disease an addiction does not make. You can get yourself diseases due to your addictions of course.

I am of course agreeing with you Duuuuuuuude in case anyone is confused.

so you are saying that you can just think i am done with it and be rid of the craving to drink or do drugs, that these feelings just go away just because you think something, if you honestly believe that then you are well on your way to a relapse. i quit smoking years ago, and i still get little sensations telling me to smoke... its not a matter of just turning off an addiction, if it was then it would be a hobby. as far as getting rid of a disease by saying i am done with it, you can say i am not going to let cancer get me down i am not going to let it beat me. belief is a powerful thing .

You are obviously missing the point and I have been clean for over 10 years thank you. I also quit smoking over 6 years ago.

You choose to use the drugs or drink the alcohol. That is an action with a choice. Cravings don't force you to do it, you allow the cravings to control your actions. That is the definition of an addiction not a disease. I can have a feeling of wanting to murder someone, that does not make it a disease. I choose whether to act upon the feeling or not.

With a disease there is no choice involved, it is there period. Choices you made may have led you to contracting a particular disease but are not involved in with the disease itself.

i wasa heroin addict for 3 years...NOT a disease..a self imposed sickness that you do have a choice in..10 years ago it was sink or swim so i swam and havent touched anything other than ganja in that 10 years and never will again because i CHOOSE not too..not a disease to be cured by , your friends, god, anyone other than yourself in your own head,.it wasnt easy and im sure detoxing from alcohol is no picknick but its doable , its a mental condition, abusing any mind altering substance for 2 long and you will damage parts of the brain that produce the chemicals that make you feel good, saratonin i believe, thats why the addiction cycle is very hard to break..but in time the brain remembers how to produce it and a person can be as they were, some people have an addictive personality but its not a disease..i was an addict..i,m not diseased..i havent been tempted at all in the last 10..the misery i caused my family and friends..especially myself..i never cured myself from a disease..i healed myself and grew up
i will add that there is evidence that certian races(natives, asians) do have genetic markers that can give them a predisposition but its not a disease..a person still has to go buy a bottle or a flap..it doesnt start on its own..calling an addiction a disease is a cop out to me..an excuse to not take responsability or action to help oneself, but thats just my opinion

Well, some people don't have the choice. In their mind they see no other option. So there goes your theory.
