Rockforce front axle upgrades?

Are there any upgrades available for the Rockforce front axle? A friend bought a used Rockforce and has now broken the front right axle shaft. It is a CVD axle so I don't even know if it is stock or an upgrade already. I was able to find the XVD's on RC4WD but was wondering if there was anything else out there. I have done a few searches and no one seems to list too many upgrades for the RF. Any info or parts numbers would be greatly appreciated.

i would just say buy a new stock replacement ive been beating on mine for a wile now and no problems with the axles yet "thumbsup" .... now servos and dig on the other hand thats another story... glad to see some one finally in the rock force section...

I snapped a dogbone on my front axle too,no upgrades that im aware of.
But i spose ,its the first breakage ive ever had in about 2 years,so not bad.
So just have to order stock parts.

Thanks for the input! My buddy has decided to order the RC4WD cvd kit so hopefully it works out for him. His RF is actually really nice and it crawls a lot better then I thought it would with as little mods as he has done to it. So far all he has is a dig and some rovers on Mayhem rims.

yea it seems people just think down on them. i love mine and out crawled my fair share of people. wish there was some one around me with a berg(since it seems there so raved about) to see how it holds up.

I know I don't look down on them that is for sure. I saw it for sale at my LHS and I mentioned it to him so he went up there and purchased it.

I have a berg and I crawl with my buddy who has the rock force. The two really can't be compared fairly. I say this simply because my berg is no where near a stock crawler and his Rock Force only has a couple of minor mods.

In my honest opinion his rock force only has a few draw backs that are fixable and crawls really well. Will it go everywhere my berg will go? Not yet but its will make it about 85% of where my berg goes. I think it would all come down to who is holding the radio.

I guess what I am saying is I would be happy to own either. I love my berg but if I found a rock force for the right price I would buy it as well. I already own 2 crawlers (1 berg and one scx-10 based) so the more the merrier!

a good simple(for the most part) thing to do with the rock force is get/make a new chassis since when it flexes the shocks hit limiting the flex. Just cut out were it hits or get a piece of aluminum and lay the stock one over for the hole patterns and cut a new shape out.

wow you must have some serious bind ups ive had front tires bind completely and flip the truck and nothing snapped what motor /gearing you running?

RC4WD make XVD axles for RF,wonder if they're any good?

They are a big improvment over the dogbones. I still managed to break a couple but with 4 cell and a 21.5T brushless it was expected.

The pins are a bit short and the set screw really does not hold them all that well. Longer pins and using 2 set screws helps. I just used the shank of some quality drill bits. They will still loosen and move but being longer they will not pull out the cup as easy. Steering angle is pretty good and more can be had if you open up the cup a little bit.
