Roku

All I have had for the last year or better is the Roku. 0 Problems so far, I get hulu (pretty much every major network show the day after it airs) and Netflix for a total of $16 a month. And the bonus with the roku is you still get to use the on demand type features that comcast sports. Personally I had Qwest, now century link for the last year for internet and am actually going back to comcast, today lol Century link felt it not in their best interest to hold up the contract I had with qwest. But back to the Roku, you can also get pandora and tons of other channels on it. You can also stream live through an xbox 360 or playstation 3 with your hulu and netflix accounts and that's always a bonus. "thumbsup"

I got the Roku because I don't have a gaming console, but was tired of always having to watch streaming Netflix on a computer.

One time purchase, nothing to rent, stone simple to hook up and get running...I love it. Free Pandora streaming is great too.

This sounds good.
We have Comcast basic but almost never use it.
I had got rid of cable tv all together but they called and talked the wife into signing back up for $6 /month more than our internet service was.

We stream Hulu, Netflix, Pandora, Comedy Central... through a dedicated laptop.
We do not have a cable box.
It would be nice if we got the On-Demand stuff... which we could with Roku? Even w/o a cable box?

I'd really like it if HBO (and others) started a web subscription like Netflix.
It would be ideal to be able to pick and choose what services you wanted with out going through Comcast.

Digging up an old thread.

I just picked up a Roku2 XD yesterday. So far love it. Streams up to 1080, stupid simple to setup, tons of cool free channels, and it's freaking tiny.

I was doing netflix through the Wii, but had to hook the computer up to HDMI for my other stuff. Plus the Netflix Wii interface was kind of annoying. Well, the Wii decided to die, so I went looking yesterday at target for a Bluray that was wifi and got the different streaming channels.

Long story short, none of the Bluray players had everything I wanted. I also really don't care about getting bluray. Not that much better than DVD for my money.

I had read about the Roku and honestly forgot about them. So I saw them on the shelf and for 70 bucks it looked good. They had another version that could play games too but I could care less about Angry Birds on my TV.

Now I have Hulu, Amazon, Netlfix, and more all in one place, and the functionality and streaming of the unit is awesome.

Anyone else with experience here?

I got rid of my Roku when I got my new Blu-Ray player. The player does everything the Roku did and more, so I saw no reason to keep the Roku.
