RR10 Backpack

Took the Ozark trail 40 liter backpack out for a short walk to do some crawling the day. My MOA crawler, Airtronics M4, batteries,and a few tools fit with plenty of room to spare. It was very comfortable to wear, I could have went farther. The next time I pack it I will put the tools down in the bottom of the pack along with any other heavy things. Our next comp will be in about two weeks and his pack will be along for the trip. I will post up pictures of it with the gear inside of it. "thumbsup"

I use an ancient Salomon 20lit and just strap the crawler on the outside, tools,3 liter Source bladder etc goes inside... Although I think the packs shown here and are large enough to fit a rig inside are much better!

I am in the military. I have spent years under a ruck sack, humping for miles and miles. I am responding because of your comment about packing all of the heavy stuff down low. I would like to offer my two pennies. In Ranger school it was imperative to pack all of the heavies pieces of your packing list on top. In my mind, I use the weight on top to push me forward on long road marches. But more importantly, while on patrol, the weight being on top felt more controllable, and not pulling my shoulders backwards. Essentially being easier on my back.
I would never tell you how to pack your ruck, just offering my opinion. Good luck!

That is some good advice, I would have never thought of that. I used to do some backpack camping and I think I always put the heavy things in the bottom of my pack thinking having the weight down low would be better. I will take your advice and give it a try. I think I need to secure the heavy things better so they don't slosh around. Thank you.

That's a really nice pack. I actually saw that in my search for something to carry my RR10 but I couldn't justify the cost considering I'm not in to racing.

I'm the type who always looks around for alternatives to what's out there for the hobby I'm in to. I always walk through stores wondering what I can re-purpose to use with my RC stuff. :lol:

Anyway, I haven't had much chance to actually use my backpack as a trail bag. Generally I use it to put all my stuff together to carry it to a crawl spot. Haven't really used it to hike with or anything like that. So far I'm still really liking this pack.

Might have to search a few times, but I have seen large rolling duffle bags a few times at local Goodwill stores, might be a good solution as well.

EDIT: Nevermind, this thing is WAY to small for a 1/10 crawler. Could probably fit a drift or touring car in there.

There was a blue version but it sold out. Looks pretty promising for a smaller rig like an SCX10 or the likes. Has the same "wide mouth" opening at the top and H20 bladder like the previous one I posted.

I just ordered one and will post pics when I get it.

Different approach - picked up 2 of these EastWest DC3025 Tactical Duffel bags, sweet price - perfect size for a RR10 Bomber and a bunch more gear (25 x 12.5 x 14 inches) :

Finally finished my Bomber - so now can actually post the fit of one inside!

Side pockets hold multiple batteries and all the tools you'd need, end pockets great for water bottles, etc.

my trx4 blazer didn’t fit in my day pack, so i just clipped the axle to the handle of my pack with a carabiner. that left plenty of room for snacks for me and mummy son!

I just use a plastic tote but a backpack would definitely be more convenient.
