Been thinking of getting back into the RC world to enjoy it with my son and want to go rock crawling and mud ridding instead or racing this time.
Im wanting a RTR dont have the time to build a custom for the first one what are some of the choices pros and cons.
Also any meets or events in Louisiana?

I've seen a few RTR persay kits. i say this because you select all the options you want, they build it, test it, and then ship it to you. I've seen them at RCP Crawlers and The Crawler Store. i personally don't have one yet, but from what i have read and seen, the Axial Scorpion is the best bet for a beginner. Hope this helps.

I agree, the AX-10's are the best bang for the buck and can be comp worthy fairly easy. ;-) But, they are not RTR. I dont believe that there are any RTR crawlers out. :?:

Ive been looking into the AX-10, but the WK I think is at close to the top of the list. Another question I have is I see a lot aftermarket frame. If you buy one of these aftermarket frames what part of the the stock trucks do you use?

Go with the ax10. Hands down, it takes the least amount of mods to get it comp ready.

If your looking for a "basher" i'd have to say wheely king

Depending on the chassis, anything from just the axles to the entire truck minus chassis. Many chassis' will say that it is a direct bolt on option and you can use the stock shocks and everything (I've seen this particularily with the AX10 because in stock form it has great components). The websites for these chassis' will normally tell you what you need in addition to the stock truck and chassis. If they don't, you can always send them an email. Most of them don't have instructions because the people they sell them to know what they're doing, so someone who has never put one together may have some trouble, but perciverence will get it done :)

For the most part with crawling, you're not going to find chassis that you just bolt on-home modding is normally needed, but it gets easier and you get more comfortable doing this the more you do it. Many of the RTR crawlers that TCS, RCP, and RC4WD sell are very expensive. In some cases, they will charge $100-200 just to assemble them because of the mods needed and the time/thought/testing required.

The AX10 is a great choice. Kits may seem hard to assemble for someone new to the hobby, but they normally just go together smoothly with minimal problems as long as you follow the instructions

Thanks for the advice so far guys the AX10 is on the list, but after reading what yall said and thaking a look at my backyard where most of the action will be happing I think I need to lean towards a basher. Buy a basher and slowy mod it for a trail/light rock climbing truck. Saying that I think it moves the WK and new emaxx up the list.

Its 30 days or 30 post before I can look at the BST because used is in on my list.

Got it narrowed down after doing some more research. Im going with the WK or the AX10 but roller kits not RTR and want to choice my own elec. Transmitter and rex. I have figured out but for a trail/slash rock with more trail than rock, think tough truck comp. type action. What would be some good choices as for as servo, battery and ESC ? Also anybody knows some good website to look at for that type of build. This website has a lot of good info but is more towards the straight rockcrawler side and im going more trail with light crawler/ climbing build. Thanks for the great info posted so far.
