Rubi-CLONE

Do tell please
I'm starting a Rubicon build and would love to have a vinyl top.
Greg

Duxx made one for his rig and I commented on how much I liked it so he offered to make one for mine as well. I've just been too lazy to drop the body off.

I'll see if I can get him to post up a pic of his in here.

I love the wide stance of that jeep ;-)

Thanks man, it's roughly 8 7/8" center to center in the front and about 8 3/8" out back. Take away the wheel offset and hub spacers and, hex to hex, the front is just a hair under half an inch wider than a stock setup.

And what kinda person would I be if I didn't post up some more crappy pics of my workbench. So, tiny update...........

RC4WD shackles and mounts added to the ScalerFab bumper.

Axial small buckets in the creepers

That^^ with the tops of the doors cut off of the hardtop and mounted with the vinyl top is what I'm thinking.

Thanks for posting them man.

What tyres are they? How did you like the pit bulls?

The Rock Beasts are my favorite 1.9 tire. I've been kinda thinking a set of Mad Beasts would look good on this rig though.

That grille is sick, it's the Wild Boar. I want to put one on my real Jeep.

That grill makes me want to buy a real Jeep just to put one on. I think its gonna need a full on styrene replacement or ideally a 3D printed version to make it right though.

Wow looking good bro !

Thanks!

These pitbulls are absolutely crushing on the rocks, what a beautiful sight of tire grip at its finest

Those are TSL's. XL's I believe. Equally badassed though!

I was just thinking a 3d printed one would be awesome and I'd be all over one in an instant. Love that look. Your JK is coming along nicely!

Thank ya bud. Ive been loving how yours is turning out too. Did you use tamiya gunmetal on yours? Ps-23 I think. I got a couple cans for mine and hope that it turns out to be about the same color.

Id be all over one of those grills too. Hopefully one day.

ive been thinking of getting max pro, how do you like it and is it worth the money?

I have MMP's in my C3 and also my Twin Hammers and they do the job very well. Especially if you use the Castle Link and take a little time to fine tune them. There are cheaper alternatives if your not running a sensored motor though.

Losi has a rebranded MMP that is exactly the same as the one from Castle aside from the stickers and they can be had for a few bucks cheaper. Might be something to look into.

Mounted up a VP lightbar along with the window, top and mirrors. Getting the window frame and top lined up and working together was a pain in the rear. It's not perfect but I guess its as close as I'm gonna get.

Also started on a few panels....

Hood panel just sitting on the body....

Wow looking good bro !

wow I can't wait to see the finished product awesome so far man!

how do you like those lightbar I am looking for one for my rig

Thanks man, I've got the body apart and the Fasmask is drying as we speak. I hope to get some paint on it today but this is where I usually ruin the body and have to start over.:lmao:

The lightbar is top notch. Mounted up really easy and when I hooked it to a lipo to test it, I nearly blinded myself. Plus it adds just a touch of that "VP Bling" factor.

I decided to man up and put paint to plastic today. Spent most of the day messing with it and still screwed it up royally. Its only parts of the hood and the drivers door so I may as well just roll with it.

Still have to finish and install the panels, but I did mount it up and add a few decals.

Its a lot darker than it shows up in the pics. Not as silver, more grey.

.

Looks good man.

I like it!

Looks good, there are a lot of silver rubicons I think the darker gun metal looks tough

Thanks, I will probably paint the hood and doors black on the outside to hide my mistakes. They dont really show up in the pics but it's all I can see when I look at it in person. Didn't really want that much black on it but Its better than looking at runs in the paint.
