Savox SB 2230SG HV MS servo Unboxing and Review

I made the purchase for one Savox 2230 servo the other day, MAP 159.99 and I picked it up for 115.99 from my local shop. I am reserving a spot here for the unboxing and talking about its fitment compared to similar shorter servos.

This will be going in my SCX10 with BMRC CMS/Panhard kit, basically this truck has been overheating and degrading cheap servos with 200 oz/in because of the wheel weight in my 1.9's and I also run 2.2's on it.

Speed(@7.4V sec/60): .13

Gear: Unique Steel
Bearing: 2BB
Case: Full Aluminum
25 Tooth Spline

Any thought about the servo guys?

Would you like to see anything specific about it? a test or video?

I am taking her for a test run tomorrow with the 1.9's and 2.2's on her, I will be reporting back on any heat ups, or troubles and the pros about this beast of a servo.
Thanks for looking and don't forget to post a quick message with your thoughts.

subscribed. Looking forward to how it tests out. I'm looking for the servo that will eventually replace my budget HiTec.

I forgot I had made this thread for the savox 2230, guess it's time for an update being just over 4 months in time and probably 100hrs of runtime on the servo.

I honesty cannot complain a single bit - I am very pleased with this servo it has gobs and gobs of torque and it stays very cool for having to throw around a 7.5lb CMS design scx10. 2.2s and 1.9s never saw a 100 degree F case temperature even on the really jagged lake rocks we often run on.

Still a draw back is but usually not an issue for us upgrade types is the needed external BEC and rx Cap to keep the servo from eating your ESC's BEC alive.

I will for sure buy another SB 2230SG when my 2.2 truck is ready for it, just outstanding how powerful and spot on this servo is. 8/10 if I had to rate it, size can be an issue for some and the 6" servo wire is just not enough for reaching the rx. ITS AN AIRPLANE SERVO!! "thumbsup"

I have been thinking on snagging this servo. Some folks don't care for savox. I need something stronger to than the Solar D772's gear set which keep failing on me.

I got the SA-1231 for my crawler.. little less torque at 444oz, but a little more speed than the 1230. Which seem to be the same servo, just different gear train, speed vs torque.

Not tried yet!
