Savox SB-2290SG

I bought this servo recently and just got it out for its first major outing. I have a 2.2 tired shafty comp crawler I use for both trails and rocks. Here are some impressions compared to my old promodeler 420v4:

It is brutally strong. I pretty much never had a situation where my rig was so bound up I couldn't get the servo to still move the tires where I wanted.

It is adequately fast. It seemed slightly slow at first compared to my promodeler, but it didn't honestly didn't matter much for my rig and how I use it.

It is quite a bit louder than the promodeler (which is admittedly a remarkably quiet servo).

It is a power hog. This servo drained my servo battery (400mah 2S) faster than my old servo drained a 260mah 2S. I should have guessed this was the case looking at the current specs. The 2290 lists stall current as 9.2 amps at 7.4v. The promodeler (470) lists stall current at 3.0 amps at 7.4v. I will have to monitor my servo battery closely and potentially change to a larger one.

Overall I am pleased with the upgrade as my most important reason for getting a new servo is I wanted more torque.

Hi great forum Thanks for welcoming me I’m new old guy here maybe I can get some info I’ve just bought one of these savox 2290sg from Dlux Fab and will be here Saturday maybe, my question is on my trx4 blazer with the 3 other servos for locking diffs and trans being 6v max, I’m running a Mamba x and with castle link I can set the internal bec up how do I hook up another bec to run this 2290 at higher volts compared to the other 3 servos. Sorry for this elementary question I have looked and I read about an external bec when higher volts are wanted but how do you split the volts so I can have 7.4 or 8 on steering and 6 on other 3 servos?

this thread is what made me pull the trigger on the savox 2290 servo for my founder 2 tonight. i just hope it can handle my almost 15lb rig!

Has anyone noticed center drift on this servo ?
As i have it on trx6 and CC2.0 Bec and spektrum dx5pro
I have to adjust evey time center trim .... And alot
