Hey guys just finished up my vs410 build and when I took it out for her first run after about 10 minutes of lite crawling I went to roll it over and got burned by the steering servo. I unplugged everything put my temp gun on it temps where at 130f. I checked the steering and zero binding, super smooth. The servo is a savox 1210sg, Holmes Just splitter, castle 10a Bec, mamba x running a y style xt60 adapter plug so the Bec only connects to the battery and esc at that plug. I dialed the Bec at 7.4 volts. Also my rig weights in at around 6 maybe 7 lbs haven't got a scale to weigh it. Any ideas of what temps I should be seeing at that servo? Never seen a servo get so hot before. Thanks ahead for any help.

Was it a new servo? Sounds like a bum from the factory if so. I’d try to get a replacement through warranty.

One thing to check, if you have a voltmeter, is if the output of your BEC matches what you expect it to be.

I assume you meant 130C? How does the servo do under load? I would definitely check the BEC output with a meter.

130C would be about 265F. I think he's right at 130F. Most electronics would not be happy at 265F.

Does sound like a bum servo. I'm with losungen, try powering it through your receiver and check the temps.

I've had several savoxs, especially a 2270, that ran scalding hot like that whenever I rock crawled. They all seemed to last about a year before burning up.

I think it's that they try too hard to perfectly center all the time, which is good in a lightweight racing truck, but overworks the servo in a heavy locked up crawler.
