Say hello to: Project Tater-Tot

The 'Tot rolls on it's own!! :D

1) Picked up a couple of pinions from the BFT this morning and dropped those in.(bought the only 2 I could find in the PDX area).
2) Made servo mounting brackets to hold down that big-ass 1/4 servo.
3) Booty-Fabbed up a tie-rod and drag link for steering, not pretty but will hold for Sundays bashing... I hope :?
4) Still have to bolt in front driveshaft but it rocks so far with only 2wd(rear diff filled with silicone, more like a LS now)

Tater-Tot is still a short wheelbase rig.... figure it's like a TJ running 38-39's with stock wheelbase

I have to say that this servo makes the whole truck move when sitting still on flat concrete or on grass.... lots of power.

My final crawl ratio as of now is 425:1... it feels pretty good for such a big truck. Slow enough to crawl and has enough to get the tires to spin. This thing is so much fun to drive!!

That looks sweet Toyo! I can't wait to see some pics of it crawling. I hope you won't hurt this as badly as Da-Juggy! They are awsome to drive aren't they?

That is VERY cool. Makes me want a set of KONGS in a BAD way.

Looks like somebody needs to mow the grass

Yep! I haven't been able to do it since I broke my wrist earlier last week... my wife said she was going to do it but she hasn't stepped outside in the yard for about 3 months  I'll have to take the pain I guess and mow it tomorrow or the next day :?

Not sure on the color... kinda orange'ish-brown :?

Well after todays outting with the ORCRC gang I had to come home and lock it up, open diffs sucked azz on the rocks once twisted up!

I have only got as far as the rear diff for tonight... I took a spare diff and welded it up, yes, I actually welded it. I made a small jig to hold everything together as it should outside of the diff housing... couple of zaps here and there... it's now Lincoln Locked! Just like the big boys :flipoff:

Now for the front I'm not sure if I want to weld it up too.. Maybe try to make a very very tight LS for it. Just need to find a substance that'll be super thick, almost locking it up.

Oh man it was fun to drive today... more fun than that damn Juggy

Open diffs suck...

6-12-04....

Added a bit more wheelbase(16.5" now), machined down the reduction unit and made this thing into the biggest pile of booty fab

you do some nice work toyo! sweet rig!

so what tranny did you finally decide to go with? and are you running a gear reduction on the motor? what type of maleable substances do you use in the diffs to semi'lock them?

Thanks... but it's pure booty fab :D Really, it is... even ask some of the ORCRC guys that have seen it.

I'm using a Jugg2 tranny, as I had one on hand and it bolted right in!

Yes. Using a GD-600 reduction unit with it setup as the 3.8:1 setting currently...but plan to regear it to gain a bit more wheel speed. It's too freakin' slow right now.

haha... okay..

For the front all I did was "flip" one of the four diff gears around which locks it up but allows some play, think of it like a Lock-Right for a 1:1 rig.

In the rear I actually welded it. Busted out the MIG, made a small jig to hold the 4 diff gears in there proper place, hit them with a couple of tack welds. Locked up solid now!!

After last Sunday's crawling I think I stripped a couple-few teeth off my rear ring gear but I have yet to crack open the axle to realy look at it.
