Scale Axles for something OTHER than crawlers

I'm inspired by the scale straight axles that the crawler and truck community is using. While i'm not really into crawling, i'd like to use the axles for other applications like scale stock cars and dirt oval.

RC4WD has a great kit to upgrade the Slash to more of a scale, straight axle, desert truck.

Does anyone know of any scale stock car/dirt oval builds using straight axles like this? Preferably 1/10th scale. I have several ideas floating around in my head, but if i can build upon the knowledge of others then i can start working out a plan.

Thanks!

Well where do I start HMMMMMM.............

If you are using a stock pan you can cut the rear off where the trans mounts up and replace it with some 4 link type bars or trailing arms lik you saw on the slash on rc4wd. You will have to make a new mount for the motor wher ever you choose but make sure it is as close to center as you can get.

OR

You could fabb up a whole new chassis based off the type of car you are building and have a "scale" oval car. Which is what I am planning when I get my current builds done.
Like so

That's along the lines of what i was thinking.

What i think i really need to do is study the rear axle assemblies of some crawlers and then figure out how to scale that down a bit for an onroad application or something that doesn't require THAT MUCH suspension travel.

thanks!

i have had a similar idea except i want to build a true scale mustang using, among other things, a fracture v8. if i ever get around to building it i will likely use either a trex 60 or 44 axle because they both could be made to fit under the body (depending on tires and wheels).
