Scale Weight Question

Hi, so my real 1:1 Jeep is around 4000lbs, so if I wanted to figure out what my 1/10 scale Jeep should weigh do I just figure 10% of that 4000lbs .. thus 400lbs would be the actual scale weight of a 1/10 scale Jeep? Or am I doing the math wrong here? I ask because I just got a Capo JkMax and it’s heavy .. 13lbs, but it handles more like my real one on the trail and rocks than any of my much lighter Axial rigs .. which got me thinking about actual scale weight of a 1/10 scale rig 8)

I don’t know, but on the Harley designs/Scale builders guild live stream yesterday they brought this up. I believe they said something like 15 pounds would be equivalent to a 4K lb 1:1. I recommend watching that, or waiting for someone smarter than me to answer your question.

Is your 1:10 scaler actually one tenth the size of your 1:1

It certainly is not composed of the same parts. Not much is really very true to scale if you put your mind to considering it

Have to think of volume, for example if you put 10 of your tiny trucks nose to ass, you may reach the approximate equivalent in length, but certainly not height and width.

10 tiny trucks is certainly not the same volume as a full size, 15lbs is probably pretty close.

384 scx10 ii XJs weighing 13.6lbs each would be approximately same weight and volume as a full-size.

1:10 scale weight of a 4000 lb rig is 4 lbs.

Weight is based on density which is calculated using volume, so: .1x.1x.1=.001

.001x4000 is 4lbs

most crawlers are 1:8 or 1:9 scale though, not true 1:10. Let's say 1:8.5 so that calculates out to 6.5 lbs for a 4000 lb rig. A SCX10iii weighs in around 6.5 lbs according to Axials website.

The reason your heavier rig handles more realistically is probably because the shocks are not over damped like most RC crawlers.
