who all here would call me stupid for turning my trekker into a comp rig? or should i turn it into a scaler? which would be easier to make?

thanks in advance, Jake:)

from what I have seen with the trekker going scaler would be easier. I haven't seen a comp rig yet but that might be interesting to see one.

I have been looking at building both. The trekker is well suited for a comp rig. Many of the upgrades are already done. It already has a 5 inch wheel base so you would be able to strech it to 6 with fewer mods. With the right chassis you might be able to run Miclow tires on the stock axel. The chassis is already an upgrade from the stock if you mounted the body differently you could cut off the extensions on the frame and have a fair start. The shocks are already more active. There are limiters on the shock that you can cut away without removing them from the chassis if you are carefull. That would give you a little more travel. Are you talking about building a tube chassis or buying something? If you want to use what it came with you could cut down the body it came with and make a cool comp body. Make it a single cab, keep the roll bar, mount it from the side (like the micro), shave up the fenders.

Out of the box it is designed to be scale so the tires are already 1/20. The chassis is scalish. You can throw a leaf spring chassis under it and get it more scale. There are model kits and a few lexan bodies for it. How scale are you going to get?

It costs more to get the trail than the micro so the big question is what will you keep and what will you scrap. If you are going to use a lot of the upgraded parts then you should go with the trail. If you are going to scrap everything except the ESC, reciever, servo, wheels and axels then start with the micro and save some money.

well i got a trekker the day they came out. i was gonna save some money and buy a micro crawler, but the not so lhs(30 mins away) didnt have the crawler so i went with the trekker because are never in the area. i want to possibly make a comper because i bought a model h1 and jacked it. so i want to make a topless chassis and use the wheels from the model and make my own tires.

the more i thought about it, the more it made sense because thetrekker already has more width, longer wheelbase, longer driveshafts, most of the stuff that a micro needs to be a comper. all the trekker needs is a new chassis

I have both the Trekker and the MrC

The Trekker is already a scaler, it does not need any attention other than shocks and there is already a torsion chassis out for it for 16 bucks. So if you want scale, you're already done just for owning it.

As far as making it into a comp, the wheel base is 4.8in and it has a bent upper link design that makes the crawler stay in one spot when it compresses down on the shocks... (if you take your finger and put it on the roof of your Trekker and press down compressing the shocks all the way, the wheel base does not change; try doing that on the MrC and the wheel base will widen and shorten as the body compresses on the shocks). However the conversion to allow the MrC to do that is like ten bucks total. The wheel width is only slightly larger, and it is a different setup that parts have not been made for yet, so the MrC wideners are still superior.

So, my two cents, the Trekker is for scale, and if you compare it to the MrC scale chassis options to the Trekker chassis looks very similar. In my opinion Losi did their home work on the getting the Trekker to functional scale. I bought the Torsion Chassis for mine for 16 bucks and called it a day on upgrades because it is my scale crawler. I picked up really cheap Micro Rock Crawlers, and I convert those to comp. I'll have three when I'm done, the Trekker will be my scale, and I'll have two different chassis types for my competition ones.

So my Trekker got the torsion chassis and that's it, finished scaler.

My first MrC got the upper and lower Trekker links and the Trekker driveshaft set, which totaled around 10 bucks. A Balde TMC chassis, new servo, MiClaw tires, hr aluminum rear lockout, bwd beadlocks, and bwd wideners.

My second MrC got the Blade RidgeBack, custom upper and lower links, new servo, MiClaw tires, hr aluminum rear lockout, bwd beadlocks, and bwd wideners, aluminum trans case, larger spur gear, new esc, new motor, new rx, and 2s lipo. My second MrC is not complete due to some of that stuff listed has not arrived yet.

So if that makes any sense... I'm basically saying I couldn't decide, so I did both a scale and a comp.
:lmao:
"thumbsup"

Here's my MrC turned into comp... still waiting on the wheel wideners, so those are not on yet, and yes the servo arm is missing in the pic because I decided to paint it and it's still drying.
