Straight crawling, castle told me to run sensored only. But everything else, smart sense. I haven't tried smart sense yet, but I will now to see if/any differences.

SCREAMER's F-Bomber

So I got the SSD axle last night and after dinner was able to sit down and focus on getting it built and installed. First off, just pulling the housing and parts out of the package had me immediately impressed with its quality and finish. I gave it the full Acer ceramic bearing treatment throughout and let me just say. Something felt very right about installing those much larger 5x13 pinion bearings inside AND OUTSIDE. I was also shocked at how quickly and easily it went together. Lately I've gotten used to putting either DLux modded housings together or Curries and this SSD was completely ready to install in less than 10 minutes and that was with me taking my time and checking things over twice. From the attached pic you can readily see the amount of stability and strength I'll be gaining from this axle and if the first few runs go as well as expected, I'll most certainly be adding the SSD front to match. I did also pick up a set of the HD upgrade shafts for spares. We'll see how long the supplied shafts last. I'll get a short test run in later today and will post up my thoughts. So far I'm very happy with the quality of the axle and the value for the money is outstanding.

Looks great Brian! I really like those SSD axles. I'd hate to destroy them in the rocks though, because I know I will :lmao: How are you going to handle the different widths front to rear? Smaller hubs out back and bigger ones up front? I don't think they make a Yeti width front axle.

So yesterday some friends and I drove to a great place for crawlers here in Oklahoma called Turner Falls. I'd never been before so not knowing what to expect, I took both Bombers. This turned out to be a very wise decision as it allowed me to fully test both in various situations and back to back so that I could compare. Biggest shock of the day? The wide axled Bomber, Qwiksilver, did not get hung up or drag near as much as I thought it would! It went everywhere the other Bombers and even the other SCX10s and Ascenders went. Total shocker to me. I thought it would be like trying to do brain surgery with a chainsaw but that was just not the case. Now it did take a bit more effort to pick a good line but honestly I was just blown away at its ability to hang with the others in this extremely technical terrain. There was not one single obstacle the others took that I could not follow.
Next up was the F-Bomber. After driving Qwiksilver for a couple hours and switching, it was immediately apparent how great of a crawler she turned out to be. Everything from the dual stage foams, to the motor, to the shorter wheelbase, and narrower track width made this a point and shoot affair. It was so much fun trying to get stuck and attempting overly difficult lines only to be surprised by its seemingly effortless success. I'm very excited to get the new Twin Hammers length trailing arms from Erik at DLux and see even better maneuverability in the tight stuff.
Overall, I couldn't have been happier with the performance of both rigs. Not a single problem from either one even after a couple significant spills with both. I'm starting to wince everytime I have even the slightest tumble or flop with my recent bad luck at bending rear axle shafts everytime I run them but, no such bad luck this time. My friend wasn't so lucky after breaking two rigs hard after the first 5 minutes of runtime each.
I'll post an update after I install the new trailing arms on the F-Bomber then, I think it'll be time to start on the third bomber build. :twisted:

X2 but i would rather have Screamer pay attention and not drive his insane rig of that cliff so he gets a pass.
Thats a nice picture and all but where is this bad ass Ascender you were talking about? 
That was definitely something we need to do again. A couple of us stayed out there until the sun went down and the deer started taking the place over. If we have good weather in a couple weeks I'll definitely be going back.

Very top holes at the skid for as much anti squat as possible. When you do this you need to make sure your pinion angle is ideal because it will move a lot as the suspension cycles. If setup too far one way or the other, you could get binding and very premature wear on the driveline. Also, the more angle you have on the pinion, the more side load you are putting on the pinion bearings. Pinion angle is important and, from what I've seen, often overlooked.
Thanks to CMB for the info on Kyosho velvets, I got a set ordered from eBay for less than $41 shipped. Finally got them assembled today and was delighted to find that Axial 14x70mm springs (stock Bomber and Wraith springs) fit perfect. The quality of them is very nice, they are super easy to assemble, and boy are they smooooooth. I'll be running them on the front of Qwiksilver since she is the faster rig, this should give very obvious results of their ability. The blue looks awesome on the Bomber too.

I got mine new from Liquid RC on eBay. Must've got pretty lucky on that price. I'm also curious to see how they hold oil since SuperShafty markets them as leakproof. I had the same experience as you with my powerstrokes. They were leak free for the first month or so then started leaking pretty bad. It's a shame too because I like ProLine's shocks a lot, I just can't stand the mess 4 leaky shocks make. I still want to try the ProSpecs but they only have one o ring in the bottom and the powerstrokes had two so I'm wondering how they hold oil.

X2 my power strokes leaked within 10 runs. Sad because I liked the way they looked and performed.
Everything I read on the velvets for performance and NO leaks after thrashing for months at a time lead me to step up and try them. I'm going all out on this rig so why not. I'm still a ways away from receiving my chassis so looking forward to what you think.
I found the body measurements during my research and like you found that the Axial springs fit though you are halfway into the body on the collar to reach the spring. 90mm would be nice but still looking at Kyosho spring rates and how they convert to in lbs.
Here are mine with Stock Wraith Springs Front and RR10 Rears and cups from my 1 run leaky GMade's. Hate those shocks.

screamer whats your thoughts on losi shocks? I always had good luck with them on 1/10 buggies. thinking of trying them on the bomber.
