SCREAMER's F-Bomber

Trackman, I haven't used Losi shocks before but a friend of mine that's an RC racer/Hobby shop owner tells me that Traxxas big bores are a better shock combined with Losi springs. HTH

Ossipee, I'm running Axial 14x70mm purple springs up front (1.4 lbs/in), and green in the rear (2.8 lbs/in I believe) on Qwiksilver. On the F-Bomber I'm running the stock springs on Traxxas big bores. They are 1.4 front and 3.2 rear or purple and yellow.

Losi 4" shocks are under 60 bucks for all 4 complete, just need oil. Im running losi shocks, I really like them but they leak like crazy. Im going to try some kyosho x rings and see if leaking stops.

Very true, losi golds or maybe white springs. One of these days I'd like to try big bores or those fancy velvets. Where's the link to these $41 velvets you found at liquid rc? Are you running them yet?

theres a secret to building losi shocks so they don't leak.;-)

I haven't ran them yet, probably this weekend. I don't have a link to give you because he's out of stock atm. After seeing CMB's post, I did a search on eBay for Kyosho W5198V and a set popped up for $40.83 with free shipping so I jumped on 'em.

Sorry Screamer for jacking your thread.

I was going to run the Losi 8 Buggy Fronts (96mm E2E) but the lack of spring options soft enough put and end to that. Too bad because i love my Losi shocks. The only leak i have ever had was after a lawn dart attempting a long high jump and biffed the brake timing. My terrain is loose sand, granite and clay powder. If the clay powder can't get in and destroy seal i'm not sure what would.

The same goes for my Losi XXL shocks. Besides being gigantic, i have never had them leak. When i change the oil in both the Losi 8 and XXL the oil is like brand new and clear as i put it in. Testament to the seals not letting caca through.

Now, Back to Screamers thread and eagerly awaiting the test results.

No worries CMB. The whole point is to spread knowledge and there's some good info in there.

Let me guess, dont run losi shocks?:flipoff:

But really, lets hear it, I'm all ears.

what works for me is to build the cartridge on the shaft. yeah I use green slime and install o ring spacer and o ring on shaft then slide on the empty cartridge. that way I don't knick the o ring. building cartridge first I end up cutting a ring forcing it onto the shaft. this works good for me anyway..

sorry for the jack screamer.

Didn't get to take either rig out this weekend so I did my second favorite activity, working on them. Got the brand new DLux twin hammers length trailing arms installed on the F-Bomber and they did the trick. I finally have the wheelbase I wanted for this build. It's right at 13 and 3/4 inches but more importantly, it's perfectly balanced front to rear. This will definitely be the way to go for the 1.9 builds. I have some XR10 width Curries that I am very tempted to put under this rig along with some 1.9 Flat Iron XLs but we'll have to see. Seeing Carter Fab's 1.9 Bomber really made me want to build my own and with the new, much more scale wheelbase, it's set up perfectly for 1.9s.

Screamer, did you end up making your own rear upper links with the Twin Hammer trailing arms? Curious how it will perform and/or if you can tell a difference in performance vs. the wraith trailing arms. Love it!

Thanks! I did not have to change the rear upper links. I'm still running Wraith length VP rear uppers. I am running a VP Currie rear axle and have found that the rear upper link mount on these axles is pushed back about 5mm from normal. Because of this, I had to install Jato rod ends on the rear uppers to get the pinion angle correct with the Wraith length trailing arms. After switchg to twin hammers length all I had to do was swap the Jato ends for Revo ends and it put the pinion angle into perfect alignment. I got lucky on that one.

Oh sure, change up the trailing arms just after I get the Wraiths almost setup ;-)

Also good point on the Jato ends vs Revo. I noticed on my curries with the Wraith TA's that I am extending the Revo ends. Jato ends here we come!

So on the Jato ends. Did you use 4 Jatos or a combination of Jato and Revo ends per link?

Awesome. After I get the silly 1:1 cars fixed then I can go back to tinkering on the 1:10 ones. Funny how you spend the same amount of time no matter what he scale is. Change axle on a 1:10? same time it takes on the 1:1.

I know man. All my rigs are constantly evolving. If the twin hammers length was available in the first place, I would've gone straight to those. Even still, the Wraith length are a major improvement over stock if you're building a crawler. I noticed a huge difference. I'm hoping these are that much better.

I used Revo ends in the front and Jato in the rear with the Wraith length. Now with the twin hammers length I'm using all Revo ends.

I have not. Qwiksilver has been disassembled and sent to DMG for some IFS goodness so I won't be running her for a while. I will however mount those Velvets to the front of the F-Bomber to at least get some run time with them and see how they do. The F-Bomber is kinda quick so I'll be able to get some higher speed fun in as well as crawling. I'll be posting my first impressions right after this weekends run.

Not to beat a dead horse here... Haha. But I am still a little confused on the motor selection in each of your Bombers. What I am reading is that the 3500 XL is in the crawler and you moved the 2200 to the bouncer (qwiksilver). Am I correct??? I have a Mamba MonsterX coming and just need to jump on a motor. I don't need crazy speed but a little never hurt anybody. I just can't decide on 2200 or 3500. Runtime is important too. Thanks for the help.
