Scx Bent Links? HELP!

So I know this might come off as a noob question but I have the axial stage 2 lower aluminum links and I've been noticing on trail rides I get hung up on my lowers a lot on simple obstacles link small rocks with a peak or a log maybe a root or something so my question is this, does axial offer a bent link with the same wheelbase as the honcho or does maybe another manufacturer link rc4wd..?

Yea. Build your own custom length links and bend them yourself. Like you would with 8/32 all thread and brake tubing and some new ends, only a tad bit longer to compensate for the bend, If you take your time and check your lengths, it can be done. I've had this on my honcho for about 4 months and they are working great.

^^^^ agree building ur ouw links is the way to go and it is much easier that u think i tap my own rods then put the tubing over it cause i dont have threaded rod yet but it does not change anything just make sure to measure as exact as possible or ur gonna be dogtrailing because ur axle isnt straight

You can use a pipe cleaner to get very close to the right length and bend. Trace it on a piece of paper. Slide your all thread rod through the tubing and bend to match the shape & length as your template on the piece of paper. Use your first finished bent link as the new template.

On tricky pieces I have just bent all thread and installed rod ends to mock it up and check everything out. When you are happy with the length/bend, use this all thread as the template. This Has proven more accurate for me but you burn up a piece of all thread:roll:

how strong is the tubing and all thread?

steel + water = rust probs of any kind..?

what ID & OD do i look for?

a vise is very helpfull but u have to be careful for the treads cause u dont want then to be stripped or something.

for the rust u can but marine grease inside the tubing then but the rod ends on, or just spray with wd40 to keep it from rusting

How strong, strong enough, specially with the brake tubing to help support.

As for rust, I personally haven't had the links on long enough to check but they're good so far.

And your o/d really depends on which links you use. Not sure of the popular revo link ends o/d. The all thread and brake tubing is fairly easy to manipulate. Nothing a little elbow grease can't take care of. And a vise will always be a good tool to have for any hobby.

thats all i have to ask really, lol just OD and ID now the 6mm OD links fit flush with the revo ends so .236" thats 1/4" OD..?

If I was still at work, I'd grab some mic's and measure the tubing I used. I'll try to remember tomorrow. But .250 is 1/4, should be a nice smooth fit.

My question now is the solid ends of the 6mm threaded links have something for the rod end to butt up against when tight to hold em snug, how would the hollow brake line stop the revo ends when I tighten em up? I don't em rotating outward or inward on me or opposite each other I'm kind of OCD it would get to me lol

Unless you have a way that's more accurate. I'm a machinist so I have mics and calipers. Tape measure would help your eyecrometer, though.

I didn't use a specific degree to bend to, I basically picked a point between highest arch possible, with out too much and the lowest angle to prevent a high stress point. if your angle is too sharp, could cause a weak point and if bound up, could fold or fail. I "eyeballed" the first one to the start of the u-joint of the driveshaft on the axle side and started my angle there. So far I have not had any binding issues. Pics would help my description but I'm at work, truck is not lol.
