SCX24 ESC/Rx in a Charisma Coyote Pup (MSA-1E)?

So I thought the motor went out on my C-pup, replaced it with the RC4WD mini-sized motor. Took a LOT of trimming down the transmission plate to get it to fit! And it still doesn't work!!!! :x

So upon further troubleshooting, I "think" the ESC/Rx combo went 1/2 bad on me? The steering servo still works like it should, just nothing to the motor, checked voltage on the pins the motor plugs into and nada, zip, zero, zilch! Took the back off and there's one little component that looks a touch melty...

So off to the interwebs I go for a new ESC/Rx... do I really want to replace it with the OEM one? OR do I go for the new ESC/Rx combo for the Axial SCX24?

Thoughts? Discuss amongst yourselves.

Verified it. plugged the motor/trans assembly into my SCX24 ESC/Rx and she turns just fine! So the OEM Carisma ESC/Rx is boogard.

Axial electronics are pretty smooth and do have a 3rd channel, but I wouldn't swap to them because they seem to have a problem draining one cell of the battery below safe.
Stock replacements are ok, but I wouldn't bother with other RTR all in one electronics. I would stay stock or upgrade to proper electronics.

Good points spoo... time to start putting $ in the upgrade fund. What's your favorite? The Castle Sidwinder 1/18 looks like a decent possibility.
