Scx24 throttle calibration?

I’ve got one of my scx24’s that when the throttle is in neutral the truck runs in reverse slowly. If I turn the throttle switch to slow it will hold neutral but truck runs slow obviously. I’ve tired re-binding it no luck. I’ve used another controller from another good running scx24 and same thing. So it’s in the esc not the controller.

Just wondering if there is a way to calibrate the throttle like on bigger remotes and esc’s. I remember learning a “secret” way to calibrate end points and such on my DX2E that came with my rtr ascender. Looking for a similar hack before I buy a new esc.

Thanks!

Ben

I had the same problem when my C10 and you cannot calibrate the ESC or adjust the trim on the transmitter so I ended up taking apart my radio to see if there was any way I could adjust the potentiometer for the throttle. I had to take an razor blade and shave a little plastic off the part where the two springs center the throttle trigger. Making it center correctly to keep it from slowly rolling in reverse. Dont forget to shave the correct side off or you will be adjusting your trim the wrong way. I called horizon hobby and the sent me a new remote but since I fixed mine I haven't even opened it yet. So I guess I have a spare now.

Thanks for the reply. I may call horizon in hopes they’ll send me one. I do think it’s in the esc on mine because I’ve got 4 scx24’s and I took another controller from a good running truck and I had the same symptom.

One way to test it is take the controller and slowly move the throttle and see if you adjust the center point of the throttle trigger.

I just did the same thing on my grandson’s Deadbolt. Works as intended in S, creeps backward in M and rips in H. Biggest problem I had was getting the plastic shield over the controls to pull out of the retainer slot. Had to cut the plastic on the rear grip end of the trigger a fair amount, but it does work. I bought his and I now have 4, so I think HH can spring for a new controller as a sign of good will.
Thanks for trailblazing this one.
