Servo Choice - High Torque

Hallo,

I am looking for a new steering SERVO for my Pure Spider. (possibly full metal case)

I normally use Hitec, though I found this new SAWOX (SB2290SG CNC) that looks great and has up to 694,4 oz-in / 50 kg at 7.4V
Monster Torque Brushless Servo, Black Edition .13sec / 694.4oz @ 7.4v

But I have very limited experience with Sawox...

The hitec alternative would be the D-951TW 32-Bit, Metal Case, High Torque, Titanium Gear Servo D-951TW 32-Bit, Metal Case, High Torque, Titanium Gear Servo | HITEC RCD USA

What would you guys suggest?
Have you had ant experience with both or any of them?
Pros/cons?

Thanks for the feedback, where can I find the thread?

I saw the specs of the promodeler, I cannot use 8.4V so I have to stay with 7.2 which will provide "only" 420-440 oz-In... I was looking at something with more torque ...

Maybe if I read the 3D I can gain better insight though..

It should be on the first page or 2 of the electronics section. Pro modeler should be in the title. The current version is version 5. As far as voltage 8.4 is a 2s fresh of the charger, you shouldn't need a BEC on 2s. You may be right about the 7.4, mine set-up uses a 3s or 4s with a BEC at 8.4

I need a beast! I am currently running on my extreme rig (PureSpider) a second hand Savox SB-2230SG High Voltage Monster Torque Brushless Tall Steel Gear Digital Savox SB2230SG Brushless Digital Servo)
specs below:

So I would like to avoid going for a weaker servo... I need Full Metal Case for heavy duty condition and as well high torque for the type of use I make out of it... it must move the rocks! :lmao::lmao:

The reason why I want to replace my SAWOX is that is 2nd hand I am not 100% sure how old it is, and that I want a new servo for the National Final to make sure I have fresh electronic as well.

I also have HH BLS SVH500 (12v capable), used it in my proto class3 and had a failure after the second race.. got it replaced but I am hesitating now using it on my comp rig...
Any experience with this Servo?

I seem to understand everybody in here is for ProModeler, right?

I've run the holmes, latest version(updated pin ?) no failures. I have two PM a 420 and a 470.
I've run most 100.00 servos, Savox and PM work better than my Hitec. Many here have found the PM solid and reliable, consistantly updated for better performance.

I'm going to give the Spektrum S6280 a go. Suppoed to be really quiet, full aluminum case, waterproof, adjustable wire length. Looks solid.

I have been running the Savox 2290 for a bit. Lots of torque and much more quiet than the 1230 I had before.

The bluebird hb50 is a decent servo right up until the 2nd gear pin breaks and destroys the gear set that is not available. I replaced my bluebird paperweight with a savox 2290 and could not be happier. Bluebird inflates their specs no doubt. The 2290 is stronger.

I have the Savox Monster Black edition on my 10lb rig with Pit Bull Rock Beast IIs'....The servo is a beast, well...I guess, depends on your idea of a beast. LOL. I'm just comparing it to a similar priced Hi-Tec that I own and Futaba my buddy uses. Yes, a little high on the price. However; nice piece of mind knowing I am going on a trail run and don't have to worry about my servo if I get a little crazy.
Another note if your rig isn't super heavy and you do not have your steering link mounted 3":shock: from the center of the servos output shaft the monster could be over kill if you especially if you have a budget.

Garbage. Hot red anodized garbage.

Made it 5 minutes on my Bomber.

Helical cut gears are to reduce rotating noise. A servo has basically zero rotating noise. Helical cut gears force themselves away from each other, thats a really bad thing in the tiny spaces we're dealing with.

Another vote for the 2290. I've been running them on both my comp rigs which demand the servo be able to flip and move the whole rig when needed. I have one on the way for my SMT10 build as well. Very excited to install it. They've just been no hassle, tough, and extremely powerful. I used to be a Hitec guy. Still run Hitec 7950 in a few rigs but they don't hold a candle to the 2290.
