Shaun's 1987 Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe Restore

Thanks guys.

Darkhorse, it has an alarm, not really an alarm, but a engine kill switch. Its just got a little keypad on the dash.

Its a GM alarm, one of the "dealer options", and I've been told that it is very rare.

I got a kick out of this comment on another thread "Ricer killer"
My stock honda would give this car a good run8)

Hopefully a mild street/strip car. I'm not going to be doing anything to the original block or heads that are not reversible.

First thing is the urethane front end kit. that front end is crazy loose and gets scary at 90+ MPH.

Heres a list of things I'm planning, for the engine anyway.

Electric fan kit
Headers(found some used flowtechs for $50)
Purple Hornies header bolt on glass packs(need to do some measuring to make sure they fit.)
1.52 ratio full rocker rollers
Tall valve covers
Moroso HEI Ignition kit
Holley street dominator intake manifold

For the interior Cheap and simple.
Programmable shift light
Cheapo $100 pioneer CD deck
B&M mega shifter.

I'm also wanting to paint it by my self. Don't have the equipment or area to paint it though.

When it does get painted. I'm going black with the red SS stripes

sounds like nice set of plans, but i HAVE to post up the pics of the installation of the part, you just have to, lol

It's a pretty ugly car IMO. Just make sure you fix the basics first then go onto the preformance parts. And with painting it if you don't have a enclosed and heated space then don't do DIY, Shop around and you could most likely get the paint job you want for a pretty decent price.

Well, I didn't mean area, I have a great place to paint it. I just don't have the equipment, but by the time I really for paint I might have it or its always rent able. I also know plenty of people that do paint and body work on the side.

So, I retract my previous statement.

Heres what I would do

First off lose the cheap mexican tint. Dont worry about paint or any body work. get it to run good first.

Brakes, a big thing imo. I dont know jack about chevy so figure out what upgrades there are from other cars, rear drums? lose those. Id work on the suspension too, good springs and struts. Lower it a little.

170k, I wouldnt do much to the motor unless you pull it to complete rebuild. Id go crate motor. cheaper power!

Maybe some fiberglass stuff, those cars are mighty heavy:lol:

remind me to bring my MKII GTI next time i come to ORCRC and we will have a little race. same vintage as your civic.

Yeah the brakes and suspension is coming first.

Heres the urethane kit.

I'll probably end up keeping the drums in the rear. They really aren't that bad. Its got alot of stopping power.

Cheap mexican tint!? Thats high quality walmart 9.99 stuff man!!!

The tint is coming off this weekend. I made I list of stuff I'm going to do this weekend, now if only I could find it :(.

Maybe you'll smarten up by then..?!

That is MY .02!!! :flipoff:

In that case, don't bother putting much time/effort into it...you'll just wreck it. Too much car for someone that young and already that reckless.

Closed down paved road in the middle of no where. No one was at danger other than my father and I.

Where did I say I was driving? I have confidence in my dad, considering hes only had 2 wrecks his whole like and none of them were his fault.
