Shaun's 1987 Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe Restore

Those are awesome, DH. I would swap in a 350 but they are pretty thirsty engines. I'm not sure if I want to be able to drive the car or have to try and find a way to put some gas in it, lol.

Yeah, lol.

Now that I have it up here in Tulsa I'm getting really worried about it getting stolen, or the $200 CD player getting stolen.

So I'm looking for a good alarm but can't find much through Google.

What I want is;
2 door remote unlock
Pager
LCD Remote

I would like to keep it under $350

Thanks for the compliments.

I use the Ungo SR6000 and it has protect my stereo for 2 years now.

It's nice to see a "kid" getting his hands dirty by working on his own car. That's how I started but out of necessity...couldn't afford to pay a mechanic. Now it's an obsession, just ask my ex.

Nice first car(even though I'm more fond of the regular SS), and you will have way more respect for the car if you build it yourself.
Ever thought about the RamJet 350? Excellent power(350hp, 400ish ft.lbs) and stand alone injection, as well.

I've put ramjets in land cruisers and they are very nice, but they don't give you the cold start performance or millage of a production car EFI system. Also, the ramjet isn't smog legal in a car like that. While I have no idea what the local laws are in OK, I do know it's federally illegal to alter or disable the smog equipment on any car, and sooner or later smog tests will be required everywhere in the country. it's just a matter of time. Sadly, I can't think of any inexpensive EFI systems that would go into that car easily. A TPI would work, but last I checked the parts were getting pretty expensive. A TBI would be cheap, and they do work well, just not for performance applications. A LT-1 isn't worth it and all the gen III motors are still too expensive (because they kick ass.) Sounds to me like keepin' the carb isn't such a bad idea.

First off new pictures!

I now have my stereo installed

***Copied from my Cardomain***

The first thing I wanted to do was get my stereo installed.

I have a really awesome sister that bought me a Kenwood KDC-MP435U head unit for my b-day/Christmas.

After I got the old radio out, I found a mess of wires and a hacked dash. After some work I was able to get the install kit to fit. Once I got it all put in I ended up not liking the look of the install kit. So, I pulled out the good ol styrene and fitted it to look like one piece

It still needs some work, but I think it looks decent for a 30 minute job.

Here are the speakers I got, I was going to get Pioneers but I found that they don't come with a grill, I didn't want to spend time looking for grills either. So I got some Lightning Audio(rockford) 4" speakers. I'm amazed at how well these sound for being as cheap as they were.

This is the best I can get them to fit, I plan on getting lower door panels that are molded for speakers when I start the interior. I really don't like the look of them but they will work for now.

Sorry about it being all messed up it was all even on Microsoft Word.

Hope fully we will be getting to the drivers door bushings and pins tomorrow(where the sag is coming from) and then after that I'll be going on my squeak/rattle chase, fixing everything that is making an unneeded noise in the car. After Mothers day/Moms Birthday(same weekend) we will be getting on the suspension the weekend after. I'm going to start ordering parts here in a few days. I'm hoping to get the front end done weekend and would like to be done with the whole car but I'm not sure that will happen.

Thank you for taking your time to read this long mess of a post.

id check the local salvage yards for the screw covers, shifter trim, and other interior trim parts, switches.why s10 rear cylinders?should be the same as whats on the car.also 50 bucks seems alot for a 10 buck reman part.

I can't find a year that matches the one in the picture. The S-10 cylinders have alot more holding power than the stock ones.

That's a really nice fice car there bud. Nice to meet another teen like me. My first car was and still is so far a 1997 Ford Escort. Prretty good for going from point A to to point B, and for a first car. "thumbsup"

I don't think Lighting Audio is made by rockford. Speackers are to cheap and sound quilty is not that good IMO. MTX and Rockford are the same last I heard. Honestly though just about anything these days though will sound alright. Some sound much better though when money starts getting dished out more. I do like your car though man and want to see more progress getting done. I have noticed you add to this thread more and more here latly though. Give us a good burn out vid!!!"thumbsup"

They aren't technicaly made by rockford but they are a division of rockford. I only spent $30 on them. I was going to get some Polks but I figured I would wait till I get my new lower door panels that fit 6 1/2 speakers. I like a nice sounding stereo but I don't feel the need to put alot of money into it. I would rather take that and spend it on performance.

I have been putting alot of hard work into her lately.

Thanks for the compliment.

I'm working on a vid. And I'm going to get some good vids of some hard corning up around Elk City out around where I used to live, there is some really twisty roads out there.
