Simple bread

Volt up! Gear down!
one pound flour (high gluten bread flour works best)
a tad under one cup water
dash of salt
sugar, if you please
active and fresh yeast

Warm the water to 85F, stir in a generous shake of yeast. Let mixture sit for 10 minutes or until the yeast forms a froth on the water.

Sift flour into large mixing bowl. Slowly stir in water (spoons work), making a sticky dough ball in the pan of flour. Continue adding flour until the ball looses the stickiness. Fold the dough into itself by hand 200 times, or on a flour'd hard surface. As the dough ball gets sticky, add more flour.

Put the ball back into the bowl, dusting with more flour. Cover and let sit for 1-4 hours. If you are not going to cook the dough soon, you can stick it into the fridge instead. It will keep for one day or two. You can punch down the dough before cookind if you wish to have a denser bread (pizza).\

Cook at 400 for however long you want. Full loafs take around 20 minutes. I like to hit the temp to 450 for just a minute and drop down the temp to 375 for a nice crust but very moist bread.

This makes enough for a pretty big loaf, or two huge pizzas, or two small pizzas and one medium loaf, or whatever you want to do with it. With enough sugar and some eggs and milk you could make a cake. Or you could just slice this bread up and lay cooked eggs on top, eat the sugar with a spoon, and drink the milk.

That's funny right there.

Remember Moab? You can just buy bread & save some time.:flipoff:

ahhh hummm...(clearing my throat) (whispering) HOOOOOOOMO!!

Homo says what? Look, unless you are going to use the bread to disable the competition or as an obstacle, keep it to yourself...

Were you wearing a pink shirt and panties when you posted this??:flipoff:

Like you've never cooked anything yourself before.

When I was younger and my dad and mom told me I needed to cook stuff. I said "That's for Girls" my dad's response. "Who in the Hell do you think is going to cook for you when I kick your As5 out of the house"

My wife thinks I'm a good cook. I make the majority of our dinners. She's better, but I add that Southwest Flair to it.

Holy crap! I hope JRH's gets some more brushless motors in stock so he can go back to what he was good at.

I can cook too. I also agree that the grill is King, but posting a recipe for bread on RCC??? You have to admit that you would think a flaming was in the future when it was posted??

It's all in good humor....

LOL

I enjoy a good homemade bread also, but I use the easy method.:flipoff:

-2.5-3 cups self rising flour
-2.5-3 tbsps sugar (or brown sugar if using below)
-little cinnamom (optional)
-12 oz beer (room temp)

Mix in bowl, and pour into buttered bread/meatloaf pan. 375* for 45 minutes to an hour.

Here's one...

Want to know why I'm such a fatass?

GOAT'S DEEP-FRIED WHITE CASTLE RECIPE

1 sack of White Castle hamburgers (10 hamburgers)
1 pound of melted cheese
I pot of hot beer batter (recipe of your choice)
40 shish-kebab skewers

Cut each Whitey into quarters, skewer it and dip it in the beer batter! Then Set it on a paper towel for a few seconds to get most of the grease off. Dip it in the melted cheese if you want to up the cholesterol a little.

Deep fried Whiteys yummy! Yes, I'll probably be dead in another six months but fawk it.

That sounds like a super slippery sliders recipe.

I tend to drink my bread recipe.

Wish we had a White Castle round here, Heard they had dang good food. I'm 33 and I have cooked for myself since I was 10. My mom had cancer, my sisters had their boyfriends and my dad worked from sun up till well after sundown. If I wanted something to eat, guess what? I had to fix it. Kids these days, Just toss a hot pocket in the microwave, repeat 3 times a day for 365 days, and they call it living. LOL!
