Some of you might remember that I personally offered to kiss someone's ass if they were able to take a stock transmission and turn it ONE rotation without having any eccentricity/binding ....
I'm happy to say that I have finally consternated of this issue and found a solution ... Its fairly simple .... I used my dremel to complete this task... with a 9$ diamond etching , reinforced cut off wheel. one 3mm washer and two drill bits
For your own personal test hold the output shaft tight and turn the gear .. the amount of excess play is Ridiculous !!
ON~SIZED GEAR PINS
34 tooth transmission gear AX31228

~requires~ a 7/64 drill bit
The first step I took was installing the drill bit backwards into my drill so the blank was sticking out ... Then I used 180 grit to sand it down a bit so it (almost fits ) in the output shaft bore . Then I took my drill with the plank still in place and lightly bored with the blank with lubricant ....
IF YOU USE THE DRILL BIT TO RESIZE THE HOLE THE CONVENTIONAL WAY IT WILL BE TOO BIG :evil:
next cut the drill plank approximately 12mm .. The first time I carefully pressed the pin in place and trimmed it to fit.. Now I clamp the saved pin in my vice and use the cutoff ..
now its time to trim / berm the gear pocket to fit our new on sized . I used my dremel bit with oil to hone out the pocket a little at a time until I could start the pin into the orifice.. At this point I finished honing the pocket with the drill bit blank /drill..
end result a

Same plan of action as stated above "thumbsup"
~ final conclusion ~
After I noticed how SLOPPY the pin to shaft and pin to gear it started making sense why my idler gear was taking such a beating (3 blown transmissions ) ALL had the idler gear blown out of the bottom..
Having sloppy gears on each side of it seemed like a loosing battle ... Especially when I started thinking about the conflicting forces from motor inertia on one side and terrain/traction forces on the other side of that poor idler gear..
SO... I think the deflection causes the gears to miss mesh in turn spitting the little idler gear out of the bottom of the case .. "thumbsup"
Correct assembly order
After I assembled the modified transmission it still had a notchy feeling that I was trying to ale.... So I started to loosen one screw at a time wile turning the slipper shaft .. I noticed one screw that really caused a issue so I modified a 3mm washer to fit inside the case as a spacer and re assembled the case..
NO MORE BINDING "thumbsup""thumbsup" FREE SPINNING LIKE A FISHING REEL "thumbsup"

I NOW have faith in the XL Stock transmission "thumbsup"
