I have vague memories of those photos...:roll:.

Regarding the Voodoo craze. Got some Golds...really soft and hugamongous. Two more sets of silvers on the way. I'm making some steel dies (instead of scissors) to cut them and reduce OD in a stepwise manner until they are Roverish or slightly larger. Can play with width too. This way I can do a Voodoo re-mix and use say silver tread with gold sidewalls or vice versa or any combo I like. They will not be cheap ore easy to make but I'm thinking there is a sweet spot/combo in there somewhere. I've no experience with cutting tires but I'll just jump in and learn. Oh yeah, and I've never run a pin tire either. Where's that dang ginger's phone number...:ror:.

Yeah I texted him on 5/6 and let him know a bunch of business may be coming his way regarding smaller OD Vood's. If I can't sort out a process he's gonna get my money. I just like trying first myself.

The important thing is the right glue! As I thought about this, when I do mine I want to try to get the glue joint right on the corner rather than how the khaos or blocks ended up with the glue joint in the middle of the sidewall. I dont know if its in my head, but it seemed like it did weird things with the two peice sidwall, so if its right on the edge of the sidewall and tread, then i dont think it would effect much. I would chat with Eddie if I where you and see if he can give you some pointers on achieving what you want.

That's the point exactly. I will sever the tread at the small grooves on the inside of the carcass where the wall meets the tread bed, leaving the sidewall entirely intact.

Try a little more water maybe...they seem indestructible to me. But that desert heat is another animal altogether.

I've assembled the parts I need to proceed.

Waterjet cut dies (local hookup)
0.5" delrin sheet (McMaster)
2.5" delrin rod (more than just the piece in the pic) (McMaster)
Loctite 406 w/ applicator tips (per the Mighty Monte)(McMaster at $20 per bottle)
Muchoos Voodoos (thanks for the quick shipping gents)


Time to fire up the lathe and build a cutting jig. Then on to the joy of tire glueing. I do like the feel of the silvers vs the golds but the golds may be da-bomb in the da cold. If all goes well and I knock out my house chores and construction projects I should have a driveable set by Monday PM. Wish me luck.
