Smith&Wesson M&P15-22

Well I have been bouncing this 22 idea back and forth for a while and I just couldn't make up my mind and still can't..I wanted a GSG5, but finally narrowed it down to 2 rifles..

The M&P 15-22 or the Ruger SR-22

Which one would you guys get?

I am starting to lean towards the SR-22 just for the fact that everyone talks about how reliable and accurate the 10/22 is and I have heard a bunch of people complain of feeding issues with the M&P. From my understanding, that is all the SR is though, basically a 10/22 wrapped into an AR-15 outfit..

The Ruger SR-22 is a great weapon out of the box. It will give great reliability and decent accuracy. What I don't like about the SR is the fact that it is heavy compared to most other .22's. You are right it is just a 10/22 action wrapped up in tactical clothing.

The S&W M&P 15-22 is reliable and fairly accurate out of the box. Not really any upgrades for it at the moment but that will come in time. The biggest problem with the M&P is that it doesn't like cheap ammo. It will tend to not cycle them properly, especially if you don't clean it often enough.

Both have their purpose in the plinking world. It all depends on what you want to do with them.

If your looking for accuracy you need to go with the 10/22 or a quality bolt gun. I have several .22 that are sub .5" MOA (50yds). All are obtained useing relatively expensive match grade ammo. It's hard to get reliable accuracy with standard ammo.

Just my opinion.

Thanks Brian... I seen there was about a 1lb difference, but I don't think I would be as concerned about weight, as my wife would be when shooting it. She would gladly shoot the 6.5lb SR-22 over my almost 9lb SKS :ror:

But it seems with the support and aftermarket parts that a 10/22 has, it seems to be like the AX10 of the crawling world.. But I'm not worried about cleaning, as I clean the hell out of my guns..But since I do buy various ammo at times, I don't want a gun that will be that picky...So sounds like the SR-22 ..thanks "thumbsup"
