Smokes

Cold turkey is the hardest but best way to do it. I've heard that nicobate (the stop smoking aid) is owned by Benson and Hedges.
What does that tell you.

Apparently if you stop smoking ,after about 5-6 days most of the nicotine is out of your system and your just fighting your
brain after that.I've tried quitting 3 times but haven't tried hard enough. When you're not even 30 yet and cant push your car
off the road or jog a lap around an oval it's pretty scary.

Never had reason enough to quit either, until yesterday.Just found out the missus is pregnant.Might be time to re-evaluate things again.
You just gotta keep trying. I must have quit two dozen times, lol. But, only two really count, the last one in particular.

I've found that cold turkey doesn't work for most people. You need a little help to get past the two week period. But, in truth, it takes years to finally say the urge is gone. And still, at weird times, I will think of a smoke.

I think everyone has a different approach. If dropping it completely works, go for it. I used the patch, the wife used the gum. I didn't like the gum as it burned my mouth. The patch got me through the first week, then I cut them in half for a week, then I went with nothing.

I've even seen little fake cigs that you can just hold in your hand if you need that to quit. My Son-in-law's Mother used those. They were like a regular cig but the filter was the entire length, lol. Just a prop I guess.

Doesn't matter if you fail to quit. Just keep planning to quit after the next pack or carton, or plan for a date you can remember and quit on that day. It will help you keep track of how long it has been since you quit for bragging rights.:)

It will be the hardest thing you ever do in your life. But, it is definitely worth it. Heck, just knowing you can force that kind of will over yourself is quite rewarding in and of itself."thumbsup"

No. It's a very serious drug addiction. Worse than heroin. Worse than alcohol. And, like the junky and drunk, you are forever an addict. One cigarette is enough to send you over the edge.

So just a ? then have u ever been a actual alcoholic or heroin addict cuz I have and smoking is the easiest one to quit keep in mind I am smoking currently and I have quit before but I was addicted to weed for 15 years and quit multiple times ( almost a year clean now) I was addicted to cocaine for 1 year (10 years clean now) alcohol for 5 years (5 years clean now) opiate pills for 4 years (2.5 years clean now) and heroin for 1 year ( almost 1 year clean now) I am a lifetime addict now for over half my life I have quit smoking multiple times now and it was by far the easiest thing I quit comparing quitting smoking to quitting heroin or opiates in general or alcohol is 2 different worlds if u r a alcoholic and quit cold turkey it can kill u and the same goes for benzos if u quit smoking cold turkey your whole body doesn't hurt and its 100 outside but u r wearing half your clothes u own shivering cuz of detox like opiates do when u quit sorry to b rash but they are just at such opposites of the spectrum sorry to keep going further from the main post ? and purpose

Not to stray even further from topic,if that's at all possible.lol
Also not to shed light, brag or get too in depth into what i was into, but having
a long term substance abuse problem with just about everything you can think of,smokes has
been one of the hardest,if not the hardest.I'm talking intravenous stuff included.

People say pot isn't addictive too and that is absolute horse droppings. Cigarettes are one of the worst.Period.
I'm not going to get into a pissing match over who's done what drugs and whatever but if you have
given up the fags, well done to you. I wish i never had a puff behind the tennis nets at school because
i thought it was cool,I've blown enough money on that rubbish now to have an awesome hilux or two,not
a rusted out crap box.

Poms and Aussies call smokes "fags" as well, in case anyone's wondering.

I have known through a funny conversation with an Aussie that they call slippers 'thongs' :lmao:

Here in America thongs are the same thing as flip flops. Flip flops are generic flat foam with a piece that goes between your big toe and second toe and over your foot on each side. A thong is a thin panty worn by some hot women and unfortunately some not so hot women...

See, this is what I am talking about. You say tobacco is the easiest to quit...yet it is the only one you haven't quit using. Yes, I have used other substances, (and pot is about as addictive as some find chocolate to be) And I still found tobacco to be the hardest of all to really, finally, and absolutely QUIT using.

And, in fact, addiction is a lot more than just chemical. One can be addicted to gambling to the point of ruin. No chemicals imbibed there. Also, some of us are much more prone to addiction. I think this is why some of us seem to think pot is so addictive. They would say the same about Pepsi.

You are actually proving just how hard it really is to put nicotine down forever by listing every single drug in the world that you have kicked...except one.

I think cigarettes, or nicotine, is hard to quit because it is readily available and legal. Most narcotics are somewhat hard to acquire and usually ruin a persons life, showing them that they need to quit.

"thumbsup" Bang on. It's not just chemical.
People even get addicted to the whole "ritual"
The actual habit of the system you go through.
Buying your product,whatever it is (pot,other substance,cigarettes)
and preparing it.The preparation part is addictive. Any pot
smoker can relate to this. Or having things, ie.coffee/alcohol with a smoke.

Funny enough we have a show over here with a panel audience called
Insight.Last night it was about sex addiction.I think i got into the wrong
one. That would have been way more fun than chuffing smokes in the morning at school.

At least i know if i go to the US not to say to anyone
"yeh, just popping down to the shop for some thongs and to get
some fags."
