Next week I'll be back in California, visiting family (I'm originaly from SoCal but moved to Colorado 10 years ago).

Can anyone recommend any good hobby shops with crawler stuff or courses around Santa Monica or West LA? I'd like to show my California friends what crawling is while I'm in town.

Thanks,

EXW

RCP used to have friday night get together's it's pretty far from Santa Monica though.

None of the shops that i remember from orange county had any indoor rocks or courses. The cats in the socal club thread might know.

rcp is the place to be for crawler info, parts and an indoor course right off the 10 freeway in montclair like charlie said check out www.socalrcrc.com and rcp is under the vendors section.

There are a couple that are a LOT closer than RCP. I'm in Santa Monica, dude, so PM me when you're going to be in town and we'll do a gtg. Corral Canyon isnt too far away, Marina Del rey is a good spot, vasquez is only 45 minutes from SM/WLA and is SO worth it. Hansen Dam is only 25 minutes from us.

Pacific Coast Hobby in Lomita carries lots of scale stuff and is a good shop. The manager is a regular to my gtg's and is into scale crawling so they carry some good stuff. He's also a member here and on scale4x4rc.

Ehobbyhouse in Reseda is good for general stuff.

Hobby People in encino(?), not too far from ehobby, is HORRIBLE.

if you need paint, glues, styrene or really basic stuff like that you can try Evett's Hobby on Ocean Park between 16th and 17th. They do mostly planes and its a really small shop but if you need any of the above they're a good, really close source.

There's Ultimate Hobbies in Orange. I know it's quite a ways from Santa Monica, but there is a small indoor crawler course and they carry a lot of parts. Not to mention the best prices I've found so far.

Thanks everyone, this definitely gets me started.

Pantablo, it would be great to get together, but I didn't bring my rig since I'm on vacation with my family. However, I do plan on checking some of the hobby stores so I can show my friends here what crawling is (or at least what a crawler looks like).

I actually am familiar with Evett's hobby shop; I bought a Blade CP from him a few years back. Nice guy but no crawler stuff from what I remember.

Thanks again everyone.

I have several rigs if you wanted to gtg I could hook you up with one of mine. But I totally get it if you don't want to crawl and keep it a family vacation. I'm that way, not bringing my hobbies on family vacations.

Yeah, Evett's is only good for styrene and basic paint/glues, no crawler stuff.

Pacific Coast is a good bet though. Mike Luther, the manager, is into scale crawling so they have lots of built crawlers there. No indoor course though.
