Got a ton of parts laying around that I've accumulated over the years. Every now and again I'll get a wild hair and go on a blitz and build something out of nothing.

Wild hair found...Ended up picking up a old beat up Pajero body off the shelf while working on coffee #2, and plopped it on the worktable. Hmm.. always wanted to do a solid axle one. and hey, I have a gazillion sets of older TLT's laying around. Gears began to turn, parts boxes were scoured. Mad frenzy of metal shavings began to ensue... A few hours later:

Started with my usual 6061 chassis and a couple of standoffs to set the width. Quick design to fit under the jero was sketched, transferred the the metal and a few cuts, files, and sanding later, voila! Found some shock towers pieces laying around and bolted them on. Was going to make them, but since I already had them, why not? Found a leftover piece of L bracket and fabbed up a panhard mount.

Always wanted to try this - using another L bracket, fabbed a mount for an HPI reduction box and a old trusty 65t motor. Mounted the whole thing up front. Not sure how the gearing will be, just going with the flow, we'll figure the math out later.

Servo mounted next to it. Awful tight up there...

Linked up a set of TLT axles using some old axial posts for now, and some pede rod ends.

Rear is 4 linked with a handmade truss.

Front is 3 linked.....it's almost like I planned this out, I've only got a mm here and a mm there for clearance.

Full compression...clears.. "thumbsup"

Not your run of the mill TLT's - beefy C's and knuckles, and a long gone set of MIP's stuffed in both axles. Other than the weak sauce cast gears, these are ready for some abuse!

T-case is also a home brew...some L brackets, 5mm shafts and 32p pinions. In keeping with the old axles, some older TRX shafts were mated up, fully pinned all around. Feeling a bit nostagic here. :)

Body and wheels plopped on. Wheels will stay as I had to drill them out to 6mm to fit over the axles. Tires are up for debate yet, but I've had these tires for ages and never really found the right rig for them - may as well at least mount them on something.

Lots to do - WB needs fine tuning, body mounts, shocks need to be nailed down (mockups installed in the pics, need something 90-100mm or so) needs a radio/batt tray, chassis paint, etc. All in all though, Not a bad start in a few hours, and not a dime spent today. Of course, I spent it all in the past, but let's not burst bubbles.

As it evolved, it is officially a function over form rig. Not overly concerned about looks, scale points, etc - if it passes from 10 feet, good enough. How it wheels is my concern (Actually most of my builds are this way) and the way things are laying out, it's going to be a pretty good performer indeed!

Looks great! cant wait to see what you do to this one! just a suggestion but for tires how about the RC4WD 1.9 scale Baja claws they are 4.19 inches tall.
