Stock ESC Question

I just bought a MRC for a scale build and was wondering if the stock ECS has many problems and should I change it? I want a reliable ESC. I plan on using the stock radio,motor and a Hitec HS-645MG steering servo.

For your intentions listed above that ESC will do fine, but a BEC would be a good idea.

What do I need the BEC for,The steering servo? I have a Castle Creations 10 amp BEC,will that work?
