Strongest tranny?

So after stripping a couple of internal gears in my TXT tranny, I did a search to find out what the strangest tranny is.

Turns out I had one.

the other being twin force.

Both are discontinued, and parts finding is nigh impossible.

Is there a stout tranny in current production, or am I going to have to make my own.

I have dual 55t integy's running theough GD-600's with 15t pinions running the txt trans. revo shafts connect the txt axles to some Moab XL's on proline wheels.

This is what I got after about an hour of wheeling

try an e-maxx trans there made to run with 2 motors and when locked in low there extremly durable just my .02

I destroyed a revo shaft:shock: with a stealth on a super using an over powered brushless outrunner, stealth = almost indestructible"thumbsup"

If the e-maxx with metal gears isnt enough maybe an r2 would do the trick. But the e-maxx should be able to handle it.

I vote emaxx. Should handle darn near anything with metal gears and hey you could even get a metal case. Talk about bomb proof lol.

Thank you all. I had read varying opinions on the emaxx tranny, I didn't know if it was about the same robustness as the txt or not.

Its not like i'm asking the rig to do much, Just carry isself around and drive over stuff :P

Yeah, I knew people were having wear issues with heavily stressed R2's.
I'm working on something in the want ads to try and get the hookup.

Stupid stuff getting discontinued.
of course I switch to an emaxx trans so I can get parts for it, then the TXT axles crap out, and the only things stronger are either dicontinued (twin force) or prohibitively expensive (rc4wd's).

That does it. maybe I should just keep the novak in there with all 14 cells, then get a 14.4v cordless drill and hook it up. 2 speed, low range in the 450 rpm range. plenty of torque. then I'll just get a couple of those $6 Harbor freight angle grinders to make my differentials out of. the axle housings might be tricky, but if you're gonna go, go all out.

Yeah, I scoped out ebay, there were a handfull of trannys (emaxx) most without motor plates. anything close to finished was pushing $30 or $50 with over 24hrs left on them.

I did something crazy, and hope I can make it work.

I picked up a CEN Nemesis transmission. $35 delivered.
The thing has a 5 or 6mm input shaft, and the outputs are riding on 12mm ID bearings. Only issue will be converting to yokes from cups on the outputs. And maybe having to take the thing apart and lock up the one way bearings so I can have reverse too.
And maybe making a motor mounting plate for it.

I was almost thinking of leaving the center diff open and leaving the driveshaft brake on. using electric I could be applying power and braking the rear diff at the same time. almost like a dig setup. on the other hand, I would have to have a brake for the front end too to keep it from frewheeling in off camber or high centered situations.

Might just be better to bounce that tranny back onto ebizzle and try and score an e-maxx

I remember seeing some one selling just stealth trannys on ebay. I picked one up for $35 shipped, I looked the other day since I've sold mine to a friend and he had two up that went for $30 and $35. I'll try and find a link to his ebay profile.

Yeah, I already asked the guy about that, the idlers are steel, but the bottom end is still plastc. and it's already at $60 with 3 days left on it.
Don't get me wrong, I'm still watching it.

I'm not picky, I don't want stuff to break, I'd rather the motor stall, but I don't want the motor stalling all the time for any little thing like my WK.
of course going to 4.75" tall wheels instead of 6.5" tall wheels helped out the WK. except for diff clearance. I wonder if the WK will get portals. Hmmm
