Any tips on removing a stuck 1.5mm grub screw which secures a driveshaft to an axle input shaft?

Some gorilla at Traxxas must have tightened this, and used a lot of Loc-Tite. I stripped and then broke an MIP hex driver trying to get this out.

Being that it's a grub screw, the usual methods (use a grinder to make a slot for a flat tip, drill screw out then remove shank) probably won't work.

Am I stuck with JB welding something into this, and turning it out that way?

drill out the allen head once the head is out the pin side drops out i usually drill it and tap it to a 4mm hole so i can use a 2mm driver instead of the week 1.5mm driver

you could also try a star tip bit and heat the piss out of it only works if everything is metal though but that usually works
just hammer the bit in after its good and hot and out it goes

Thanks, I got it out. I did what you said, I had to drill almost entirely through the pin and then was able to force it out of the backside with a hammer / punch.

I saved the axle input shaft, but the threads in the driveshaft are gone. I'll probably just order a new shaft as they're cheap as opposed to tapping it again.

right on glad you got it its hard to not get in to the threads but its worth the extra step of tapping for the larger pin i would do them all in the larger size

I had this happen to MIP Bomber driveshaft grub screws. I broke the MIP tool tip trying top get it out. Still haven't gotten around to drilling it out!

Apply a bit of heat to the fastener, or let it soak in Acetone for the thread-loc to dissolve. I've used jb weld, as well as steel dust and allen wrenches to permanently destroy both, but it works.
