Styrene

I purchase styrene as well as polycarbonate sheets from Utrecht art supplies.

I got some from the local shop like Jen said. They did a full 4'x8' sheet of .060''. It was only $28 with it cut into 4 sheets of 2'x4'. They sell all over, and maybe you could contact them to have them ship, or see if they have suggestions/affiliates in your area.

It appears to be more expensive online then local...but still at $35/sheet, it's still A LOT cheaper then a LHS.

They do sell the .020'' in a 2'x4' sheet for only $3.50 so that's cheap.

Yup! with a little patience and imagination, you can make just about anything with styrene. Like these....

When are these boy's going to get back to work?
What has Vinney been up to? "thumbsup"

I recently came across a crystal nail filer. It says it never wears down because it's made of crystal. My current emery board is already pretty hammered after making only 2 things out of styrene. Anyone ever heard of this or tried one? I just spent $10 on it so hopefully it holds up to that promise!

I'll keep the thread posted on how it does. And if nothing else at least it's pretty! ;-)

I use that ProWeld glue. You just put it on and wait for a few seconds for the plastic to 'soften' then hold it together for a bit. It works really fast!

"thumbsup" Just got me some styrene and ready to build something. Pictures coming soon! Love the great examples that are posted up. Keep the inspiration coming!

No carving. It's all about layers. Use a sheet for the base then use thin strips on top of that to simulate the ribs.

for someone new to styrene what is the best thing to try to build. I eventually wanna build a rull bed for my wraith/jeep i have other accesories that i bought to go with but i wanna make the interior and tub myself. Any ideas on where to start would be great.
