a tip for those still wanting to get into the styrene thing but cant find any....hit up Wal-Mart or something like that and buy some of the plastic NO TRESPASSING signs, they are the same thing, you'll just have to paint the piece to cover it up.

i've built a few things,

fuel cell, filler cap hasnt been added yet,

This is my first experience with styrene, I still have a lot to do on this drop bed. The wheel tubs are huge to match the huge wheel arches on the hpi f150 body. I used .060 for this, not really sure what most people use.

I think it would hold up well if you used thick enough material, my drop bed is .060 and it's pretty tough. I think they had .120 at hobbytown, that's pretty thick..almost 1/8" I think. Im a styrene noob tho. heres the grille I'm attempting now.

How thick of styrene do you guys use to build interior floor pans and dashes? I've got a build going and I'm cutting cardboard out for templates then going to do it in styrene. I have some .60 I think it is. Wasn't too sure how it would hold up. Its a big KOH style steel tube chassis.

glad to see this thread pop up again, i didn't want to be the one to necro it. been playing around with some sheet styrene again, trying to get used to plastruct weldene. i started with tenax and its just a hard switch. recent projects are a little bench top mill (not really based on anything) and a model of my work table in my shop. the table is 48x48x1.5" plate, legs are 3x5" 3/8" thick wall tubing, 3 beads of 7014 wrapped around each leg. have yet to test how strong it really is...my shop teacher was pretty impressed though. there is a tongue on the 1:1 that i still have to build, has an adjustable vice on it. the top was drilled with a mag drill for a 6"x6" grid.

real (forgive the messy shop)

and the model, complete with montezuma welding tool box and foam rubber to replicate the rubber bed mat i use as the work surface. made with sheet only. no filler used.

the "mill" still needs some paint, no filler here either.

I thought about making another thread for this, but decided against it...better to just add to this one.

I needed scale accessories to cover the shock hoops in the bed of my 4 door Hilux http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/1-9-scale-rigs/381651-different-take-hilux.html

Anyway, this is what I came up with.
