Everyday you should learn something new...

Today's lesson:
You can't glue styrofoam with Shoe-Goo...

I knew certain petroleum products disolved styrofoam, but I wasn't sure about Shoe-Goo. I have a block of styrofoam I am making to look like a tarp covering supplies for my scaler, my plan was to stick it on the truck's roof using Shoe-Goo. Luckily I tested my idea on two pieces of junk styrofoam, sure enough, they were both turned into goo...

So, my current candidates for sticking this project to the roof of my scaler are:
Velcro
Servo tape
Silicone sealant

Any other suggestions?

coming from the foamie RC plane world I have a couple favorite adhesives for styrofoam, they are hot glue and gorilla glue. I prefer gorilla glue but you have to be careful to clamp or weight of the pieces being glued since gorilla glue foams when exposed to moisture.

You can also get foam safe CA (super glue) but it doesn't work that well in high stress situations (i.e. anything that will have a load put on it)

I'd go hot glue like forbid89 said...I've seen guys glue full wings back on plane with the shit and it holds up just fine.

If you need to attach foam tarp to rig with the ability to remove when needed then you can use Earth Magnets from radio shack. They are $1.99 for a pair. They are tiny but very strong. servo tape 4 to the tarp and 4 to your rig.
