I have looked at a few summits at a local shop, and the tires on these things are very sticky and soft. They all seem to come out of the box w/ a good bit of the styrofoam stuck to them. They look like they'd be a good super class tire.

I am looking to upgrade my tires and wheels likely as soon as i get all my electromics in order as the stock tires on mt XTM crawler look like they will work pretty well as bashers, but i'm not su sure how well they will do on the rocks. I have been wanting to modify some Panther Plowboys for some 40 series rims as i hear they are a very good performing setup. How durable are the cut and glued tires? I dont realy want to invest $200 in a set of wheels and tires if the glued tires will tear at the seams easily.

i definetly think the stock tires on this rig will eventualy disapoint me. They feel like they will be decent, but i know they wont be the best for traction. From what i have been reading. Plowboys seem to be the hot ticket, and investing in tires is probably like any other dirt sport, and the best investment you can make. No point in putting together good components evreywhere else, and skimping where the rubber meets the road.

The plowboys are the best super tire you can make. Only not on 40's, thats to small, you need a 4.5" wheel like a thorn or those hpi's.

Thanks for the tip, i'da felt like a real twibb if i bought 40 series wheels and tried to make them fit. Does anyone make 4.5" beadlocks? I plan to get some panther meat grinder tires in Maxx size for the stock beadlocks on my rig for when i feel like just racing around with it, but the maxx height isnt ideal from what i've seen for ground clearance in the rough stuff. Hopefullt i will e ordering my servo's, ESC's and batteries here soon, then i'll see how good the stock tires are. I have watched video of the stock tires being used and they dont look like they have near the traction of the Plowboys i have seen on video.

Those look great, might have to pick up a set. Is the price listed for a pair of a set of 4? The deep offset will be nice as it may allow me to narrow my track width on my x-crawler a bit, i'll keep checking out their site for new parts for them. Thanks.

the price is for 4. they are also adjustable offset depending on how you mount the wheel center (4 possibilities)

Yep, e-hills is correct....that price is for 4....and as he said, you can adjust the offset by about 1/4" to make your stance wider depending on how you mount the center portion of the wheel. Currently, these wheels are only made with a 14mm hub, but DNA mentioned that a 17mm hub will soon be available. Another good thing about these BLs, the hubs are easily removed and can be changed out....

I found a thread in the Clod section here on RCC that was very informative on these wheels. They look like they are well made, and i like the modular design. I work on a 5 axis CNC lathe, and if i need any parts that arent available, i can just make them. Once my rig is ready to run, and i get some driving experiance w/ it, i definetly plan to upgrade to some worthy wheels and tires. I am mocking up my custom tobe chassis to be skinned with a Parma Clod replacement body for sheet metal. Hopefully my rig will be almost as impressive as some i have been very impressed with here on RCC, thanks for the help guys, i appreciate it.
