Superdaves Super!

I thought that the small gear size would not be ideal for larger trucks.
What is dave doing to prevent the gears from grenading? Super 300 gears?

By comparison I am betting this truck will weigh less than 1/2 of the other rigs out there.

Both Supers (ALL) and Bergs (2.2)

sure am!!! thanks guys for all of the comments. I will post up the specs tonight, though i must say that the most important stat. is a very good friend whom im sure his wife hates me!! thanks for all of the time Scuzzy!

without scuzzy, there is no way this car would be heading to worlds!! Buy the way, scuzzy will be running it at worlds, So Oklahoma will be my first big comp with the truck

a tear almost came to my eye!

The pictures do this super no justice. Some good closeup shots of the custom servo mounts and uppper link mounts are in order to give you an idea of the time and skill that went into this build.

(Taps foot impatiently....)I'm waiting to see them Jim:mrgreen:

You got any shots with the body off? It looks like a Mantis chassis clone from what I can see. It looks great and the steering angle is great

H3rescue started the mantis with a super, then made the 2.2 and hasn't done alot with it. He offered it to me(2.2) to play with, so I ran with it! now there is a SD2.2 version of the chassis!!!! Since ive been wanting to buikd a super for a while I figured why not for worlds(At least since im building bombproof berg axles) So It is a mantis of sorts. It is quite a bit different from the OG version of the super.

Yup that's what it is, I was checkin it out at the last comp we had. I think it's 1/4 delrin, maybe thicker?

Yes we started with 1/4 derlin for this build.

No clone there. The ORIGINAL Mantis was a super and Superdave is frineds with Jason who is the designer of the original Mantis.

I do call him a friend, well at least once in a while!!:lmao:

How you likin' the tires? Glad to see more people making them.

I had the idea a long time ago, just never got around to putting together a super to run um! had to get my axles done to make running the bergs fezeable. For a super tire thiugh these things flat a!! ROCK.

How much did you spend ? did you buy regular axles plus a long side ?

Not sure yet havent had time to add that much. though it only has 2 extra servo and a matchbox to link them together over my 2.2. I guess it took 6 tires as well!

very cool "thumbsup"

Thanks

are those just sectioned rovers or did you do the moab sidewall?

Simply sectioned. if u machine the bead seats on the wheels there is no reason to change sidewalls on the tires. I guess that would depend on the weight of ur car though.

Dude thats a bad Mother F#cker man. Love it im building my 2.2 mantis right now very inspiring 2 see this thread!

here's a few more pics of the car. thanks for all the comments guys! i hope she does me good this weekend!"thumbsup"

I like the longer front link geo and wider spaced chassis at the rear mount."thumbsup"

Great job guys! There is a lot of nice fab work in that truck. Those servo/link mounts are just awesome.

WOW, that is bada$$. Good Luck at Worlds guys. Scuzzy knows how to drive..."thumbsup"

Why the duel servo up front and only a single servo in back?

with the 6.75 tall tires u need more steering (i think). I run this same car in a 2.2, I like to make the truck reposition with the steering. 900 in oz. gets it done up front. in the rear on a super to much steering can move the truck at the wrong time if u release the steering!

GREAT LOOKING RIG! I like all of it. How do those Nice Super Rovers work for you?

love them! though we will be building some others for testing! After worlds I plan on starting to build tires and cars for people.
