SzczerbaBuilt Trials Truck 4x4 (#64)

Like the traction bar, need to do that , great idea!

Hang up and Drive

Thanks, I after looking at the traction bar angle after I already painted the subframe, I should have mounted the bar to the subframe instead of the frame rails. No big deal, just would have looked a little more like a 1:1 setup, ie less angle.

Rolled it out of the garage for some light.
Still working on a few things.

Back end cobbed together work. Cut up glued/painted tamiya fuel cell or something like that.
I was going to run two full spares when it had smaller tires on it.

Weight with no lipo. Not worried about it as it’s low, wide, weight forward biased and low geared (1st gear).
The transmission is like 1.6lbs alone.

Wow, that looks great outside in the elements!

I was surprised to see it under 9lbs as well, very well done sir.

Cheers,
Gable

Looks fantastic - like the color in the sunshine!

Thanks. The paint was pesky to deal with on this body but it's what I had in the garage.

Wow! Not even 9lbs. I’d say that’s pretty good.

I figured it would be more too. Reason I went a delrin solid rod for the cage, try to save some weight. Bending this type of plastic acteyl can be tricky. It gets hot enough to bend but then will quickly boil/bubble and go liquid.

Wicked..as I said before...but the star on the front is missing!

Yah, copyright stuff probably.

Technically it’s not a Mercedes, BUT if you look from the back the star is there, hidden!

Hang up and Drive

Nah, it is a Mercedes Zetros truck. New in 2009.

Thanks. I will probably run a 2200mah or less 4s under the hood.

This thing is awesome!

It's turning out good. Hope to have some proper decals on it in the next few weeks.

Yup, But as RC4WD didn’t pay for it it’s an “overland” even has the space on the grill for Zetros, but no fees paid to MB
And RC4WD sells the star emblems....

Hang up and Drive

Ahh you were talking about licensing stuff..., I see.

Thanks for the heads up on the emblem. I searched for "overland" and then "emblem" on RC4WD's site and didn't see a specific one for this grill? Have a link or a keyword to search?

Thanks. Link or site for the printed setups? I am fine with that. I'll measure the one you linked above in a bit.

I had one (in Poland) but seems to be gone now. I suspect MB doesn’t want that out there. I had found it when originally searching for the “star” STL.

I’ll try to do that tonight again

I’ve never seen a 4s shorty!

Side note, this truck reminds me of something right out of SnowRunner, it’s amazing!

They make 4s as small as 450mah in lipo! Went with a 1600 to balance weight and runtime. We’ll see how long it lasts with this 1200kv and 2-speed transmission.

Scale hardware on the wheels and center caps.

Reread this one tonight, soaking it all in. Now even the color is getting second thoughts, but you’ve convinced me I must paint it and the interior . I did swap servos out and drove it to setup steering links, Monday the front RC4WD “suspension -shock mounts” come, or so as told send$76. PayPal to RC4WD and wait...............
Hope something usefull for this trucks front. Is inside the box from overseas.

Some small but critical tabs need fabrication, then the
Lower decking, which might turn into rear fenders. Now is my critical time to get the foundation correct before the fancy interior upgrades are installed.

Nice! I never got a response on from RC4WD on the front shocks and mounts, so I just bent some tabs up. Those pieces your got for your truck are nice though.

The interior was fun to detail and paint. It was really nice because everything came apart inside.
I added some speed stripes to the wheels. Waiting on some decals to dress up the whole truck.

Scaled out the wheels with the caps. This picture was before I painted the small stripe on the wheel.
