Tactic servo

I ordered up a metal replacement gear for the servo yesterday. Figured better to replace it rather than have it break out on teh trail and ruin a day of playing.

Like others have said it's a decent servo. One thing to note is that it's not full metal gears. There is one plastic gear that engages the motor pinion and I can't for the life of me figure out why they would do this but you can get the metal gear for it on ebay pretty cheap. It's the same set as the TSX55 which is completely metal.

Actually skip ebay and just buy the whole set from Tower it's cheaper:

TowerHobbies.com | Tactic Servo Gear Set TSX55

As previously posted by cwczx3, the TSX55 and TSX45 gears are not the same. I own both, I've had both apart and have confirmed the gears and servo cases will not interchange between the two.

The gear on e-Bay for the TSX45 is a brass replacement for the one plastic gear in the TSX45 gear set.

Link??? I see the stock replacements with the plastic gear but not a full Metal replacement

There is no link, a full metal TSX45 gear set doe not exist. As cwczx3 stated, the TSX55 set will not fit the TSX45. You'll have to order the brass gear through e-Bay.

Replace the plastic horn w/alum..pack the case full of grease..spray the case w/gutter seal..in a few months replace with an Expert wp

I stand corrected. I had read somewhere else that the little idler gear in the 55 would fit the 45.

Sound like someone was speculating and wasn't making it clear to the readers it was just his speculation. Then the errant information gets spread across the web.

There are two issues with the 45 and 55 gear sets. One is that the pitch of the individual gears are different, so you can't mix and match the two gear sets. The other is the motor location in the case. One of them has the motor closer to the out put shaft, so even if you install all the TSX55 gear they would bind up and force the support shafts out of position in relation to the servo top plate.

The reason we cant us the case from the TSX55 is because the circuit board and motor are different, the TSX45 guts won't fit properly.

And it sounds like someone is taking the "errant" information way too seriously and playing forum police. Lighten up man, nobody got hurt I'm sure.

I wasn't referring to you as the uninformed, speculating author (i.e. "someone"), you were one of his readers assuming the source actually knew something since his advice seemed plausible and as such you felt is was worth sharing.

My apologies then. No harm no foul "thumbsup"

I was running my RR10 Bomber and stripped a gear in my TSX45. I popped it open and of course it was the plastic gear. I swapped one in from a burned Hitec. I thought I'd better just take the TSX45 out of my RR10 before I burn it up. I swapped it into my SCX-10 and it blows the stock servo away. I just hope it lasts. I have a Castle bec (one for each the RR10 and SCX10) on the way. I have a Savox SA-1230SG on the way for the RR10.
