Tech thread: CrawlMaster 540

Nice review Mr. Szczerba, I couldn't have said it better myself. The low end is incredible. These motors are just another trick to add to my bag

i just checked my paypal and i guess my order didnt go through. when will the 13t be in again. i placed my order on the 22nd as a custom like you told me to. i must have done something wrong.

We have been plugging away at these motors for about two years now. They are certainly our most popular handwound! I have been pushing to increase the wire sizes, and was just having issues getting them to lay proper so the motor could shim up nicely. Going up a 1/2 ga wire size has always been possible and we make them when asked (normally through our Pro Custom 540 motor builder), but I wanted more. A driver asked me for something special, so I revisited my old notes and prepared for some time at the winding bench.

Today I looked at the problem again with fresh eyes, I knew that just shoving in a full wire size increase was not possible. The problems of 5 slot winding are very different than three slot, so I grabbed a few spools of wire and started the job. I packed 26% more wire in there as compared to the stock wire, quite the increase! The double wind helped pack wire in easier as opposed to a stiffer single, and it allowed us to hit the goal. I still see some airspace left in the slots, so this isn't the last you will hear about it.

We will be integrating this change into our Team Crawl motors very soon "thumbsup"

Question for you guys.

I've been running a Crawlmaster Expert 13t in my SCX10 geared per JH's recommendations.

I have an AX2 2speed transmission en route though. Will this motor take it or am i likely to overheat it in either high or low gear?

I love the power this has crawling, torque for days! but i just want a wee bit more wheel speed.

Thanks in davance!

It's a fast motor, good for dual purpose use.
Heat will be ok if geared within' reason.
Wears brushes fast in higher speed apps and even more so with 3s lipo.
