tekin sc4x 7.5 turn test now with Pro4 goodness

I've never seen anyone from tekin say it was ok. A few repots of sc4x motors running on them. But tekin always recomended the rx8. Which has some differences. Bigger, up to 6s, no boost and only dual drive mode with a sensored motor.

the dual drive mode is gonna run sensored at any of the lower rpm's, right? I'm no expert , but mine seems to work just fine. I'm at a comp tomorrow, i'll try to get some video of it. Ps my rx8 fit in just fine:ror:.

Just my 2 cents, regarding on going fast. Yes, The Wraith is 1\10 scale. However, How many 1\8 scale buggies ( which are 4wd) you see running 540, 48p setups. None. Weigh your rig! Those 13.5 super stock brushless setups were orginally designed for 2wd buggy and truggy setups. Then adopted by short course (Still 2wd). Those rigs barely weigh six pounds. That's why they make 550 can's for the 4wd 1\10 setups. More weight needs more torque to get it to move at the the higher rpm's that you see in a 13.5. If you don't want to modify to accomadate a 550. Then at least get a 4 pole.

ok so the video didn't turn out at all, but the rx8-sc4x ran flawlessly! i took 2nd over all after 3 courses. the first was 120 gates, second 40 gates with some special tests and 3rd was a enduro cross 3 lape race on a set up course with rock piles log jams, whoops ruts and some jumps! it was super fun but at last i had to finish the 3rd course in 3 wheel drive:cry: i just put in rc4wd xvd axles (thats all that was available) and they didnt last. i've broken 2 now, both on the short axle side. i'm curious as to what others have had for failures. I think skid mentioned a few as well. I hope the axial ones will be better and available soon...

Im running Axial ax10 axles with axial cvds. Awesome and never broke em with a 7t puller or my current MMP sc4x.

Heres a vid of the sc4x 7.5 crawling.

Replaced the broken 11t pinion with a 12t. Spur is 56t. With gps on board, 3s lipo topped out about 25 mph. 4s hit 30.9 before bionic cartwheels bending a rear axle shaft. Think the 4s has more in it, but it leans, starts turning . Rebent a 3.5mm titanum link too.

I just bought a Tekin 5.5 550 can off a buddy and im gonna throw it in my Wraith with a MMP, how do you think they will compare the 5.5 vs the 7.5. Im currently running a Novak HV 550 5.5 in my honcho with a summit trans and love the thing so I cant wait to try this setup.

I believe the 5.5 is a 4000 kv motor vs 3000 for the 7.5. I think it will sacrifice too much low speed control for me. Not saying it won't work though. Make sure your batteries are up to the task and don't go crazy on the timing. I'm curious how it turns out for you. How many cells do you plan on running. For maximum control and reliablity of other parts, I will limit my 7.5t to 3s. A 5.5t should be a touch slower on 2s. 3s is not recommend by Tekin for the 5.5t, fyi, nor is 4s with the 7.5t:twisted:. So test at your own risk.

I was gonna go with a 13.5 but im picking the tekin up for 60$ so I figured why not break some stuff  haha. I will be running it on 2 and 3s most of the time. Once I get some more stuff ill start a build thread and get some video up

Well. Thought i'd throw in my $.02 on the Pro4 3300kv. Been running it for awhile now, 3s and sometimes 4s. Gotta say - Amazing motor. Everytime i go out it surprise's the hell out of me one way or another. The lowspeed (32p 14/56) is absolutely awesome - Crawl's better then any brushed motor on an axial ive EVER owned.. I run it paired up with a MMP, with drag @ 213% its just a bitch to drive its got so much drag. I run about 60% and its awesome on downhills, plunty enough to make it do nose wheelies, rather consistently. Top speed is about that of a stock slash on 3s, bout 5mph more on 4s...

For 5mm shaft 32p pinions use AE. GOOD,strong pinion. Available just about anywhere and go down to 11t....

Well for reference, my pro4 3300 topped out at 18mph on 4s lipo. This was geared 12/56 with a fair amount of timing on rock carver tires versus ripsaws on the wraith sc4x 7.5t run at 30mph. But the torque is amazing, wheelies on command on the pavement.

Thanks for the info! So how is the really low speed crawling with either of these combos? Is one clearly better/worse than the other?

Both a very crawlable. The sc4x feels a little softer off the bottum, but feels a bit like traction control before it takes off. Can't go wrong with either, both over power. Pro4 is like a big block, 400hp at 3000rpm, sc4x like a small block, still 400hp but at 5000rpm and less torque. But take into account I have a 4s addiction. Something that makes me smile when my wraith can pass my shortcourse truck(when I can keep it straight), and still crawl.

Starting to get lost messing with timing and expo on the radios. Need to make better notes.:lmao:

Guys we are also testing setups in our Wraiths at this time. The Pro 4 is pretty much overkill as I can wheelie at will and my truck is doing about 25 on 2s. If you have specific questions I'm here to help.

At what gearing and is that with the 3300kv? I'm geared low to try and maximize low speed control. Not sure why mine would be slower on 4s. But the wheel speed is needed to jump gaps and climbs it normally wont crawl.

pro4 timing results vs top speed

advanced 12,000-20,000
4s lipo 45c 1750mah, geared 12/56, axial trans, std diffs, rock carver tires 5.2"ish.

40 degrees 16.9mph
30 degrees 17.9
18 degreee 19.5
10 degrees 16.8

Ran out of batterys and daylight, but a sweet spot seems around 20 degrees.

The Pro doesn't really need timing. The Roc412's will be the right motor for these trucks. I ran the 4600 on 2s and had simply more power than I could manage most of the time.

ive been running a 13.5 redline with a 14mm torqe rotor on 3s in my bronco and its outstanding. When running a 2200mah 3s i get 2+ hours of runtime. the bronco weighs just under 7 1/2 pounds and has a very light tire and wheel setup. ive been thinking about snagging a 3300 pro4 just so i can gear up a bit further. right now im at 18-20/87 which is roughly 10-11 mph with the under drive gears.

the key to making the 2pole work is just like randy said rpms, so resolution in the gearing is key. With the 4pole i should be able to gear for atleast 15-20 and have the same smooth low end crawling that i have right now.
