Tell me why I should buy a creeper safari over a axial ridgecrest

I have another thread about choosing my first crawler and I've gotten some decent response but most just say go with the axial and have no creeper experience.

So tell me why I should choose the safari over the ridgecrest. I already know the safari comes with front dig, beadlock wheels, cvd axles and aluminum links. However I hear the esc is crappy and I need a different one. All I here from axial people is there better support for them and there locker is better.

The looks and tires are not a factor since I plan on changing them for a Cherokee body and proline swampers.

Well I will tell you the safari wheelbase is 12.5 so you may not be able to use the Cherokee body if you want it to look somewhat scale. Yes the ESC sucks but my original one that i thought went out is still going 6 months later. I am not running LiPos like most do so that may be why I have had good luck. The creeper has some good aftermarket support like rear lockouts, aluminum c hubs and knuckles and also diff lockers and what have you. I like my safari for what it is but it definitely is not a scaler but neither is the ridgecrest. Just make sure to do the driveshaft and axle upgrades that come with it. Good luck!

I'm not too concerned with being truly scale looking. I'll end up cutting out the wheel openings were they need to be.

How durable are the stock c hubs and knuckles? I'm usually not extremely hard on stuff.

Well I bit the bullet and ordered a safari. I ordered it along with a charger 2 battery packs, a cc sidewinder esc, a cc bec, a set of proline tsl tires, some wheel weights, and a Cherokee body and paint. Wow is my wife going to be mad when all this shows up!

non venom tires are tricky to get on the venom rims. venom has there own bead design.
the lockable diff set up sucks. get a set of lockers.
the shocks suck

damage iv done.fried esc in 10 minutes, the rtr radio went T.U after a month, stock servo lasted about 6 months, blow both diffs because of the locks coming loose. and iv broke one driveshaft. iv had mine a yeah and a half

Ok, one, the esc isn't good.. running lipo has nothing to do with it... A 6cell is 7.4v... A 2s lipo is 7.4v... 7.4v is 7.4v!.... It doesn't matter what kind of battery it comes out of.... You can put a 12v value craft battery in ur car that lasts a month or you can put a 12v interstate battery in ur car that is good for 3 years... you will get better performance an endurance out of one of them.. but no matter what, its still a 12v battery.... It's one big area of misunderstanding for a lot of ppl... The only reason companies says a esc isn't lipo capable is cause it doesn't have a cutoff in It, not cause its any difference of how The battery works thru it...

I'm not sure bout the ridgecrest but my Scx-10 is very reliable an just works.. with everything, its how you build it an what you want it for. Now my Creeper on the other hand.. I want a Creeper( fusion-c tranny by rmdw) tranny in my Scx-10! The axles are axles, I like my Creeper axles, the housing is A little thinner or maybe I run it more... lol...
You can't go wrong with the Creeper its awesome! An with more an more vendors building parts for them, there on the scene more an more! I comp mine against moa rigs, its extremely capable! You will be very happy with it, an customer support is great an fast! Good start on ur parts list..

This reminds me of when I use to race modified 4wd offroad and electric trucks 20 years ago(wow that makes me feel old) we would throw away half the parts that came in the kit and replace them.

As far as the shocks go, is the biggest problem with them the cap coming off? If so would making limiting straps fix that.

same goes for rc.
even if they dont burn up,stock rtr electrics are the first to go anyway.

the caps pop,the adjusters cross thread, the bladders are trash.

chech your tranny for extra screws, mine had 2 sapres just rattling around,i found em when my tranny locked up one day.

it is a good truck though, climbs really good, and can run with the best

Right now the only ones I have to run with are stock wraiths. I plan on getting the creeper as low as I can with alot of droop in the suspension and move the rear links to help with torque twist. I should give them a run for their money.

Actually 2s is 8.4v fully charged (4.2/cell) but true, nominal is 7.4v.

Any rc will have its own problems, the trick is learning to address them. My buddy had a creeper, once the diff lockers were locked and not played with it was a decent truck. Did everything my ax10 could do at the time...

LOL... Ok.. stan.. I had the same couple of "extra" screws in my tranny once.. they ended up being two of The 4 screws that held my final gear on my output shaft..

Chris, if .2v matters then we are all screwed! An not weather they do or not, but what matters is the voltage operating range of The esc... The esc still doesn't know what kind of a battery the voltage is coming out of. Besides, junk esc is junk esc.. it still remains that a 2s lipo doesn't effect the esc any diff then a 6cell an the only reason a esc isn't lipo capable is cause it doesn't have a lipo cutoff....

The best choice was made, he got the safari... :)

I've owned 2 Axial trucks and sold them both, I respect the company for what it stands for and contribute to the hobby but I'm not a fan boy. I now have a Losi LCC and LNC and last of all a Creeper !! The creeper has most of the upgrades (lincoln lockers, driveshafts, servo mounts) now it can really impress on the rocks. For your question, if you can deal with the worm axles, get a Losi Night crawler. They are reasonably priced now, very durable, super capable and the parts support is excellent. Venom's customer service is very good if not excellent, they want their products out being run and will go the distance to help you out. When I was going through my growing pains on the creeper they sent me some small parts "3" yes 3 times at no cost.

Quick question, what are most people running for shock oil in there creeper? I'm trying to get everything together so when I get it I can start modding it.

Good news I have a shipping confirmation on my creeper and all the parts. Might be here Saturday but I doubt it, more than likely wont be till Monday or Tuesday maybe later, it was shipped USPS.

I'm going to try to make it loosely resemble my 1:1 if I had mega bucks.

Good lookin 1:1! What are ya running under it? I have a scaler that resembles my wifes 1:1 as well! It makes it fun to get it what you want it... Then you can upgrade ur scaler to what you want ur 1:1 to be.. lol, its cheaper that way!
