Temecula valley scale crawlers

Yeah, it was a real good turn out. A couple of guys came up from San Diego and a new guy came from Temecula with his son. His kid was driving a G6 and was pretty good.

I got to try out those Compass tires. They hook up pretty good.

Dude, these pictures are sick. We're going to do a full video hopefully of whatever snaps I got, and then I'm going to do a short write-up with the images of what we have. I'll let you guys know!

By the way, to everyone who was there, thanks for making our experience so awesome. Best day out of our trip by FAR. And for those who weren't there, hopefully we'll come back so we can meet the rest of you guys!

Was a blast having you guys out!!!! And thanks again for all the gifts!!!

BTW I thought about some parts you guys can make that no one makes yet!!!

Hey dudes!

So now that we're back in Hong Kong, Felix and I decided to go ahead and buy a Wraith Spawn and a SCX10 Ram Power Wagon as our dedicated scale crawlers. Seeing as you guys were the sole reason why we did this (I had a CC01 before this, and I'm looking at making it "crawl" worthy, but it's going to be a lot of work), we wanted to let you guys know first! What upgrades do you guys suggest for us as we slowly break the cars down haha?

I'm looking at the steering links, the body links, beadlocks, and the shocks first. Not sure what Felix has in mind for his Wraith, but we're both open to suggestions :)

Most people upgrade all the plastic stuff first as well as a new motor/ ESC

Agreed. All the plastic links have to go. If it has a front 3-link setup, I'd switch that to match the rear 4-link. There should be an extra 4-link mount in the spare parts bag.

The other plastic parts that are a worthy day 1 upgrade are the knuckles and C-hubs. Another suggestion is changing to universal joint type front axles to get better steering. Some people say the stock dog bone axles are stronger though, so that one is up for debate. Oh yeah, put an aluminum servo horn on, too.

The Ram already has the battery mounted in the front so that is a good thing for weight distribution. When you get beadlocks you can add weights to the two front wheels and that will also help your setup. The stock Ripsaw tires work pretty good.

For the Wraith I'd say the same thing about the links, knuckles, and C-hubs. The Spawn comes with beadlocks which is nice. But I'm not sure about the Ripsaws. If they're the R35 compound then they work awesome, but the harder compound not so much. If Felix plans on primarily crawling with the wraith and not bashing, then some soft tires and weights in the front are going to be necessary. Also, moving the battery to the front (directly in front of the interior) will help weight distribution but will require modifying the body for access.

The stock servo is OK for 1.9's but underpowered for the wraith, especially with weighted 2.2's so that would be a good one to upgrade right away.

I'm thinking 9:30 but that's not set in stone. If it gets changed I'll update here.

We'll meet up at the park at the end of the highway.

I would love to bro.....I got my rigs ready, but I have my niece's graduation up in LA this weekend.

Don't forget to post up pics"thumbsup"

So trying to troubleshoot a problem with my Tekin FX-R

I have a 2-3 sec delay going from Reverse to Forward. It's pretty annoying

Forward to Reverse is instant, but Reverse to Forward has the delay. I can't find anything in the manual to fix it

Seems pretty lame to have it set up like that stock out of the box

Anyone have any tips or point me in the right direction? I tried a Google search, but everything just came up as Throttle controls or Reverse Delay controls...

Sounds like your FXR is wired to motor backwards or you need to reverse the throttle channel. The delay is supposed to be for reverse, not forward.

I don't even want a reverse delay

Wiring is correct. I pull back for throttle and forward for brake

Could I reverse the channel, then recalibrate my throttle and reverse endpoints? I don't think I ever calibrated it...

A few pics from Forest Falls today. Which was epic, by the way.

Round 2 felt like we were on a mission. A mission to crawl, Damn it. And it was good, too. I can't wait to go back to forest falls.

Hmm, I'd try calibrating it first and see if that fixes it. I can't remember if you can disable the reverse delay or not. You should check the manual or hook it up to the Hot Wire to check.
