I know some of it camp in tents.

My wife and I are looking for a NICE "durable" tent. I know I want a canvas tent and have really been looking at Kodiak Tents. Does anyone have any input on these tents? We have a camper but want to have a nice tent for weekend get aways. I like both cabin type and bow flex type tents. Any help is appreciated. We do not want a polyester tent at all. So a Coleman isn't going to cut it. Give me some ideas and places to find a good deal. Thanks.

I bought mine at Montana Canvas. I got the 10oz 10x14 with the sewn in floor and screen door. Also got the Wrangler stove with the 5 gal water tank/heater. Had it three years and it has been up all winter all three years. No issues thus far. Best sleep ever, in the woods and cold outside with a good fire in the stove=8)

Like Jeremy said army surplus has some good deals. Depending on your budget it's like picking a Yugo up to a Bugatti:ror:. Just google: Canvas wall tents

When I solo camp, I use my two military shelter halves to make a nice sized tent. It is waterproof and has room for two as long as you don't mind "cozy". You can find these all over the place too. Brand new from ebay if you're lucky.

I grew up camping in tents. Then we got a Coleman popup and now we have a toy hauler.

Tents suck. Once you get off the ground you will never go back

Is this for car camping or backpack camping?

Will be car camping. Just for spur of the moment trips. I own a business locally so everything we do is never planned around as far as going somewhere for a get way goes.

We have a camper and yes it's nice but pulling a 40 foot camper somewhere for only a few days is a waste of time and family time. We like going to the national forests also and they are not always user friendly for larger rigs around here. Kodiak Canvas is what we are leaning towards currently. I don't mind spending in the $700 range.

We personally are going to get a Kodiak canvas tent. I have read pretty much any review I could find and there is very few negative reports from anyone. Also not sure what kind of camping you actually do but the Kodiak is a true four season tent as well which is nice for us cause we head out a little early in the year and stay out fairly late in the year. And the springbar style of kodiak looks super easy to setup. Only big down side is its bulky and heavy when broke down for storage or transport. Just my .02cents
