In the past, notorious for rigging votes... having single people vote multiple times, paying homeless people to vote, dead people voting...

Loopholes are key here, transport tags (along with street rod, and dealer tags) allow you to drive anything in md, and it's perfectly legal to own anything here. The only thing age of vehicles has to do with is if you're applying for a historic tag, which after all the p.o.s. Cars slipping through the system and back on the street is going to be harder to get a tag with.

Last grey market purchase I was involved in went through Arizona which at the time had the easiest mva to deal with, Vermont is also pretty lax on their requirements.

They're selling skylines here in America now. And plus they have dirty smog and dirty taggers everywhere. I met this lady at the liquor store who seen grease all over my hands and asked me if I was having issues, I told her yes she told me for $600 she can get me registered and smogged with the tag and everything. Turned out she worked at the DMV. Who knew. I did not go that route because in 2 years I would have to pay another $600 to smog it again and I want to, I'd rather just do it right

Everything you guys are saying are loop holes... Ya now what happens when the government catches on ? They amend the laws and take your shit... You wanna import a "grey market" skyline and risk 10s of thousands of dollars being taken from you go right a head. Please let me know when you get it so I can be a huge NARK asshole and call customs and watch as you are crying on line about the Feds showing up with a flat bed and taking the car. I wanna be the 1st " told you so" . This is just like when guys were buying the cars in CA because there was a loop hole where you could register cars as kit cars so they were buying them, taking them apart completely. Sticking all the parts in a container ship. Making it through customs because it was just "parts" and not a "complete car" then assembling cars back here as kit cars. Well that worked for a little while then guess what happen ?? Govt caught on, cars seized, laws amended for loop holes.

State legal doesn't mean shit. A car that isn't 25 years old could be brought in but it MUST be brought up to compliance... That's what Motorex was doing. It's costs thousands of dollars to make them OBD compliant and add air bags and meet all the safety and a emission requirements.

Again, im not saying you can't obtain one of these cars... Sure if you have a dealer plate or you live in Florida or even here in NY you can get a title for it but at the end of the day the car is federally illegal... Period the end... You want to get one and stick in your garage and spank the ham to it and have it live off the grid so no one knows your have it so be it.

Just spend some time on Google searching "seized skyline" or "seized land rovers" you just might learn something.

I'll be going through the proper channels to obtain what I want... 25 years old ruling, custom and bond release with other associated paper work.

This 94 showed up at a local car show a few months back. He lives in California full time, but does property management in Florida. He flies out to Florida every couple months to check in on it. He will stay about a week every 2 months or so in Florida.

He got a Florida driver license and has the car registered to his property managment address. He drives it around California with paper dealer plates on it. He's been lucky so far, but he said he knows the risk of it.

Nobody gives a damn about grey market cars... There is no federal task force monitoring imported skylines.. The issue will come into play if you do something stupid, dwi, caught with drugs, etc. but that's stuff they seize your stuff for any way. Had a grey market rallye golf in the 90's and it's still on the road and has been re titled 4times after me that I know of

Can't see how the car is worth the risk. It's cool, but it's not that cool.

The way most guys get in trouble is by re-vin-ing the car, by that I mean registering it as a U.S. Car that's been wrecked that looks similar, happens a lot in air cooled Vw, old title for a U.S. Car attached to a new Brazil built car. I've also seen Silvia's titled here as 240's.. Not saying it's right, but it happens

Lmfao yeah okay dude... Like I said... Google seized skyline

I'm done arguing this point. I actually did my research and spoken with actual real importers. I didn't just pull this shit out of my ass but whatever.

Your confusing state titling/legal with federally legal...big difference

And VIN swap is Illegal... Ya know what happens with a VIN swapped car ??

Right, he, the owner knows it's federally illegal... He obtained it through a shady Florida port and is rolling around every day knowing it can be taken away from him.

That's not worth the risk for me. And the fact that since it wasnt improted legally it'll never be legal either...even after 25 years.

I find it hilarious that now people are arguing over shit that nobody here even owns. I love RCC :lmao:

There is a guy here in town that literally rebuilt the cab of a truck out of wood, and they gave that MFer an inspection sticker and plates. Yet I can't get a dirt bike tagged even with all the proper lights and safety stuff. Stay classy NC.

I was just looking to derail an already derailed thread that was already derailed...

But seriously I like toy trucks with 1.55 tires
