So the idea for this build came about after i had the idea that I wanted a tow rig for my 404 scaler. I sold the last few bits of the comp truck and that kicked it off. I knew i wanted somthing with a large wb and that the 1:1 of it does stuff like that in full scale. Initially I was gonna go with the PL F-650, but i decided to go with a more traditional truck. The '08 Ford F-250 Crew Cab from Proline. Had a long but not excessive WB of 12.8 and had that beef look to it:ror:. I did the order with RPP, since they were the only respectable seller that had it and while i was shopping I picked up some TSL boggers and a 19t pinion. The large tires would raise it up to increase the lower breakover and look bada** at the same time. I picked up a scx10 chassis kit for simplicity.

I will be using the drive train out of my old creeper since i allredy had it and will be doing a custom CMS, Al big bore shocks with tcs internal springs, and 1.9 wheels that i have laying around.

Started getting the parts together so ill get you up to speed

First off a size comparison with the boggers and the pluggers on my 404:shock:

I did links this night and only had enough 8-32 allthread for the rear lowers, but the replacement plastic ones from my bros dingo set the wb perfectly.Not permanent but will do for now. i did the uppers with the allthread i had collected. I also got the shocks installed and i think they look pretty good and are silky smooth. They will get some tuning after its first run

This afternoon i got the trans mounted with the installed 22T Mag Mahem motor and 19T pinion. I also got the body cut out.

To be honest i have no clue what the paint scheme will be...copper, Caterpilliar black and yellow, some sort of red...?

I've got the same body. I plan on either a pearl/metallic maroon with a pewter metallic bottom, or paint it like like my dad's actual F250 with the pewter metallic up top with black around the bottom.

Or I do have some blue metallic that'd look cool...so man choices!!! :x 8)

I did man thanks for the link. I think ill go with either dark copper metallic or dark blue pearl metallic. When i get down to the LHS ill see whats close to the OE ford colors and go from there

Started working on the cms this evening. I made a plate out of lexan to hold the servo in for mock up purpuses to make it easier to work on it

As you can see in the above pic i set the servo to be right about in the center of the frame and then proceded to test out different length and bends drag links...

But out of all the links i made i still got bump steer to varying levels with each drag link

So im thinking that i need to mount the servo on the left frame rail and have the longest possible drag link. Weather it works well or not i dont know but ill give it a shot tomorrow. However the handbros kit is probably out of the question as im not running axials or have a "standard" scx10 ride height. Besides, that would be the easy way out. I gotta figure this out, that's the fun part:mrgreen:

what size are those boggers?? I like em.
Whats the specs on the rims, manufactureer and such.
Does the body just fit, or is there room between the frame and the body??

the boggers are around 4.7 inches tall
the wheels are Maximizer beadlocks with axial outer rings which replaced the stock plastic rings

the front body hang is just right over the frame, the rear body overhang over the chassis is around 2 in. not to bad. i was questioning the chassis length withe body but people building 13 in . plus JKs with that frame so it worked out well

Layin paint

Finally got around to painting the F250. I had had it masked off and ready to go for the last 2 weeks, so i cleaned up the fenders with my dremel and blew everything off with the air compressor so it was clean.
I ended up going with Tamyia Copper and Gun Metal with a silver bed box. the bed is gun metal with flat clear on the outside giving it the look of a tonneau cover or bedliner. I do like how it came out

Decals put on. in these pics its just resting on the chassis as i lost my body reamer and cant mount it till i find it :lmao::roll:

yeah it's very simple ot use velcro to mount it put a pice in the body and make a simple plate to go over your body post pin that in palce put velcor on and bam your done it's too pretty ot put holes in it man. i love that hsade of color i have a copper jeep jk built on a honcho platform wish the color was more that shade awesom job keep it up.

Damn, i wish you guys had pipped in earlier with the velcro mounting. I found the reamer and put holes in it. now i feel bad.

I think there are potential ways to fix or atleast cover it up
1. Paint the front post tips and clips copper so its a little less odvious
2. make some same color patches from spare lexan and glue them onthe inside along with the velcro and velcro mounting plates




Note to self! SEARCH rcc for other ways of mounting bodies without posts, idiot:shock:

I finally got it running today after wrenching on the 1:1 mog. The 22T motor actually is pretty good on the rocks....when the damn tranny isnt slipping. Yup :roll:. It could probably hold up to the 22 for a while but lt lets the motor unmesh from the gears no matter how much loctite and how tight the dang bolts are. Its fine for a few minits than nasty gear grinding and then a free spinning motor.

Axial trannys are superior...period. I think this deserves it

good choice on the tranny and i never thought about painting the posts the same color. thats pretty good thought if youve already got holes. awesome looking rig"thumbsup"
